Why is the way I’m getting paid on eBay changing?
We are updating the payments experience on eBay to enhance the buying and selling experience on the marketplace. We believe this is an opportunity to deliver a more seamless experience for both buyers and sellers, while offering a greater choice in payment and payout options.
What does it mean when you say getting paid has changed on eBay?
The new eBay payments experience enables you to sell and get paid in one place, on eBay, and buyers have more ways to pay. Regardless of how the buyer pays, your payouts are consistently initiated Monday through Friday, within 2 business days of order confirmation.
What are the benefits of changing the way to get paid on eBay?
The new eBay payments experience provides buyers with more ways to pay and sellers, such as yourself, a streamlined selling experience. Buyers can pay with credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and PayPal Credit.
You can access everything you need to sell and get paid on eBay: a single source for fees, customized reports, refunds, simplified protections and dedicated support. Payouts are deposited directly to your bank account.
Is there anything I need to do right now?
If you receive a notification, you are encouraged to update your account details as soon as possible. Your notification will provide detailed instructions on the steps you must take to update and verify your account information.
Why didn’t I receive a notification to update my account details?
If you haven’t received a notification yet, you don’t need to take any action at this time. We are notifying sellers whose current use of features and tools is compatible with the new payments experience. Most eBay sellers will be on the new eBay payments experience in 2021.
If I don’t update my account details now, what happens?
The new eBay payments experience enhances the buying and selling experience on eBay. Most eBay sellers will use this experience by 2021, and all sellers will eventually be required to link their bank account to keep selling on eBay. If you receive a notification, we encourage you to update your account details.
How will the checkout experience change for buyers when eBay changes how I get paid?
As part of this change, buyers can use a variety of payment methods such as credit card, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and PayPal Credit. They can also save and store their card information for future use.
How are my fees changing?
Your eBay selling fees and expenses will be automatically deducted from your earnings before you get paid. The remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account. You’ll no longer have to pay PayPal payment processing fees and no more separate monthly fee payments.
When should I ship my items?
When an order appears in eBay as Awaiting Shipment, it means the buyer has provided their payment information to eBay, and it’s time for you to post the order. eBay will not ask you to ship an order until the buyer has completed their payment.
Does managed payments support the Global Shipping Program?
Yes. Easily ship internationally with our Global Shipping Program, which takes care of customers’ taxes, and import/export fees for you.
When and how will I receive my payouts?
With the new payments experience on eBay, payouts are sent directly into your bank account. You can choose to schedule these daily as funds are available, or weekly. Regardless of how the buyer pays, payouts from eBay are consistently initiated Monday through Friday, within 2 business days of order confirmation.
Do I need a bank account to receive my payouts?
Yes, payouts are sent directly to your bank account when eBay manages payments. During the registration process you can choose to add a local bank account or you can do it later. You will need to add a bank account so we can send you your earnings.
Can my payouts be directed to my PayPal account?
No, once you update your account, your payouts will only be sent to your bank account, but you should be able to transfer funds from your bank account to your PayPal account to ensure there are funds in your PayPal account if needed.
Why can’t I get funds the same day like I do today in PayPal?
We aim to pay you as quickly as possible, but are dependent on the credit card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.) and banks for payout processing and timely funds settlement.
Will buyer purchases still be covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee?
Eligible buyer purchases will continue to be covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee (eMBG).
Are all my transactions eligible for seller protections?
Items not covered under the eMBG include vehicles, real estate, websites and businesses for sale, classified ads, services, digital content, intangible goods, and some business equipment categories (the full list in the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy).
