eBay Gift Certificates, Gift Cards, and Coupons are three additional options for buyers to pay for items on eBay where the seller accepts PayPal as a payment method.
You can order eBay Gift Certificates online or buy Gift Cards at participating retail stores. eBay Coupons are discount offers occasionally sent by eBay to eBay members.

Redeeming eBay Gift Certificates, Gift Cards, and Coupons
After you win an item from a seller that accepts PayPal as a payment method, click the Pay Now button to pay for the item with PayPal. (You can find this button on the item page, from My eBay, and in the confirmation email that you receive from eBay.) You will then be given the opportunity to enter the redemption code and apply the gift card, gift certificate, or coupon to your payment.
You can use more than one gift certificate, gift card, or coupon per purchase.
Note: To redeem a gift certificate, gift card, or coupon, you need to log into your PayPal account when you purchase the item, and the seller needs to accept PayPal as a payment method.
Click the Pay Now button.
Enter the redemption code from the gift certificate, gift card, or coupon into the "Redemption code" box at the bottom the page.
Click the Apply button to apply the discount to your purchase.
Click the "Update Total" link to see your new total.
Complete your purchase.
Note: These steps assume that the seller is using eBay's Checkout system. Sellers have the option to use other checkout systems. If your seller does not use eBay Checkout, he or she will send you an invoice or other payment instructions to help you complete your purchase.
Tip: Sometimes the redemption codes are long. If you received your redemption code online, it may be easier to select the code and copy it into the redemption code field rather than try to type it in and risk making a mistake.
If the value of your gift certificate, gift card, or coupon doesn't cover the total price of your purchase, you can pay the balance with your PayPal account using other funding sources, like your PayPal balance, bank account, or your credit card.
eBay and PayPal Accounts
You need to have both an eBay and PayPal account to use eBay Gift Certificates, Gift Cards, and Coupons. If you don't have an eBay account, you'll be given the opportunity to register on eBay when you purchase an item on eBay. You can sign up for a PayPal account when you purchase an item by clicking the Pay Now button. PayPal lets you pay securely over the Internet using your credit card, debit card, checking account, or a PayPal account balance.
Information for Sellers
If you're an eBay seller and you accept PayPal as a payment method, buyers can use eBay Gift Certificates, Gift Cards, or Coupons to pay for your items. You'll receive regular funds just like any other PayPal payment
You can:
Buy an eBay Gift Certificate, even if you are not a registered eBay member.
Pay for eBay Gift Certificates securely with PayPal.
Send your eBay Gift Certificate by email, or print it out to deliver yourself.
Add a personal greeting that will appear on the eBay Gift Certificate.
Note: eBay Gift Certificates must be purchased using PayPal. You can sign up for a PayPal account when you purchase the gift certificate.
To use an eBay Gift Certificate, you need to purchase the item with PayPal within 10 days of item's closing on eBay.
eBay Gift Certificates don't expire and there are no maintenance fees charged on unused eBay Gift Certificate balances.
Buy an eBay Gift Card at a participating retailer, even if you’re not a registered eBay member.
Transfer a gift card to someone else, if it has not been used. If it has been partially used, the remaining balance will be deposited into your PayPal account.
eBay Gift Cards don't expire and don't incur any maintenance fees. Please see the reverse side of the gift card for additional terms and conditions
eBay occasionally sends out coupons that our members can use to pay for items where the seller accepts PayPal as a payment method.
You can use eBay Coupons on any item that accepts PayPal, as long as the following requirements are met:
Items must be paid for using PayPal within 10 days of the item's closing on eBay.
Items must meet all coupon requirements.
If you buy or win an item, you are required to purchase it even if you cannot use the coupon you intended for that purchase. If that's not possible, you should contact the seller by clicking the seller's User ID on the item page.
You cannot use eBay coupons for Half.com purchases.
If your payment is declined for a purchase, the amount of the coupon will be returned to eBay, and you will receive a refund for the amount that you paid.
The coupon is not expired. The expiration date will be on the coupon.
Sharing coupons
Some coupons that you'll receive from eBay can be shared with other people, and some can be used only by you. If the coupon contains a specific email address, then only the owner of that email address can redeem the coupon. If you are the owner of the email address, but the email address is not included in your PayPal account, you'll need to add the email address to your PayPal account. If the coupon doesn't specify an email address, then you're free to share it with others.
If the coupon specifically displays your email address, but you have not included that email address in your PayPal account, you will need to add the coupon email address to your PayPal account before being able to redeem the coupon.
Log in to your PayPal account
Click "Profile" at the top of the page.
Click the "Email" link under Account Information.
Click the Add button to add an email address to the account.
Once you've added the coupon email address to your PayPal account, follow the instructions to confirm that address. When you're done, you'll be able to redeem the coupon.
