Using one-time payments to pay eBay fees

Even though all sellers are required to have an automatic payment method on file, you can also make a one-time payment for your eBay fees using any of the following payment methods:

Important: Please do not send cash payments to eBay.

For information on payment requirements, late fees, and payment schedules, see Payment due dates.

Note: The option to make a one-time payment allows sellers to pay eBay fees, it is not a method for buyers to pay sellers. Payments for items buyers have purchased must be sent directly to the sellers. Please do not send these payments to eBay.

Coordinating one-time and automatic payments

Because sellers are required to have an automatic payment method on file, you should be careful when making a one-time payment that you avoid duplicate payments. Be sure to allow at least 5 days between any one-time payment and your automatic scheduled payment You can review the payment due dates to see when your automatic payments are debited from your payment source.

Using PayPal

You can make a one-time payment using PayPal at any time.

To make a one-time PayPal payment:
  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in.

  2. Click the Account tab.

  3. Under Payment methods for Seller Fees, click the one-time payment link.

  4. Enter the amount you want to pay, and then click the Pay button.

  5. Log in to PayPal to complete your payment.

One-time PayPal payment posting

Payments are posted to your eBay account depending on when the funds are available in your PayPal account.

  • If you have funds directly available in your PayPal account, your payment will be posted to your eBay account within minutes.

  • If you fund your PayPal account through your checking account, your eBay account will reflect the payment as "pending" until the funds have cleared. This may take several days. You will be able to check the status of the payment in your PayPal account, and review your eBay account status page to see if it has posted to your eBay account.

One-time PayPal payment requirements

  • You must be a registered user of eBay.com, eBay.ca, or eBay.co.uk.

  • You must be billed in U.S. Dollars, U.K. Pounds, Canadian Dollars, Euros, or Yen.

  • You must have a PayPal account. Learn more by visiting PayPal.

Using direct debit

To make a one-time payment by direct debit:
  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in.

  2. Click the Account tab.

  3. Under Payment methods for Seller Fees, click the one-time payment link.

  4. Click the Make a Direct Pay payment link.

  5. Enter the amount you want to pay, and then click the Pay button.

  6. Click the Continue button and then follow the on-screen directions to complete your payment.

One-time direct debit payment requirements

  • You must be billed in U.S. dollars.

  • You must use a U.S. checking account.

Using a credit card

Note: Prepaid cards can't be used to pay your eBay fees.

To make a one-time payment by credit card:
  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in.

  2. Click the Account tab.

  3. Under Payment methods for Seller Fees, click the one-time payment link.

  4. Click the Pay with your credit card link.

  5. Enter the amount you want to pay.

  6. If you want, click Use a different credit card to enter different credit card information.

  7. Enter your card identification number.

  8. Click the Continue button and follow the on-screen directions to complete your payment.

Note: You don't have to use the same credit card that you used to become an eBay seller. Your credit card will normally be charged 5 to 7 days after you receive your invoice. Learn more about eBay payment due dates.

Using a check or money order

To ensure that your payment is processed quickly and accurately, please enclose a payment coupon with your check or money order.

To print a payment coupon:
  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in.

  2. Click the Account tab.

  3. Under Payment methods for Seller Fees, click the one-time payment link.

  4. Click the Mail in a check or money order link.

  5. Print out the payment coupon and enclose it with your check or money order.

  6. Mail your payment to the address shown on the coupon.

When paying by check or money order:

  • Always write your eBay invoice number and user ID on the front of your check or money order.

  • Always send your check or money order to the address shown on the payment coupon. Sending it to any other address will delay processing.

  • Check and money order payments can take up to 10 business days to process and post to your account.

  • Your check information must match your account information (no third-party checks).

  • Checks or money orders drawn on foreign banks must include an additional $10.00 to cover bank fees.

  • Returned checks are subject to a $15.00 service charge.

  • Be sure to mail your check or money order for the full amount owed at least 10 days prior to your invoice date. This will ensure that you are not also charged using your one-time payment method.

Viewing the status of a one-time payment

To view the status of a one-time payment:
  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in.

  2. Click the Account tab.

  3. Click the Payments and refunds link under your current balance.
