Selling a Vehicle Locally

eBay Motors gives you the opportunity to list your vehicle only to buyers searching within your local area. Listings for local buyers will be shown in the standard browse and search results pages based on the distance of a buyer's search. Below are the different ways you can sell your vehicle locally.

Note: Selling locally is only available to subscribers. Learn more about subscribing at the eBay Motors Dealer Center.

Fixed Price (Buy It Now)

When you list a vehicle as Buy It Now:

  • Buyers can purchase your vehicle immediately at the price you set, but they cannot bid on your item.

  • The Buy It Now price is always available.

Fixed Price (Buy It Now and Best Offer)

You can add Best Offer to your Fixed Price listing:

  • The Best Offer feature gives buyers the option to submit an offer for your consideration. You choose to accept, counteroffer, or decline any offer you receive.

  • Buyers can still purchase the item immediately at the Buy It Now price you set.

  • The Buy It Now price is always available.

Best Offer Only

If you do not want to be bound by a Buy It Now price, you can use the Best Offer Only format:

  • Buyers can only submit Best Offers which you can choose to accept, counteroffer, or decline.

  • You are only bound to sell your item to a buyer whose offer you have chosen to accept.

  • To create a Best Offer Only listing with a quantity of one, you must have a feedback rating of 10 or more (or be ID Verified). If you have a PayPal account and accept PayPal as a payment method on the listing, your feedback rating only needs to be 5 or more.

Note: Vehicles listed locally only support the Best Offer format.

Revising Restrictions
When revising a local listing you may not revise its category or modify its local listing option to include the listing in search results beyond your local area.

Switching From Local to National
If you decide within 48 hours of listing your vehicle locally that you would prefer to list it nationally, you maybe eligible for a credit of your original Insertion Fee. You never have to send a request to receive this credit. eBay automatically issues the credit to your account as long as your listing meets the requirements below.

General requirements for the Insertion Fee credit
  • You must have had an eBay Motors Local Market subscription at the time of the original listing.

  • The original listing must be a local listing in a category included in your eBay Motors Local Market subscription tier.

  • The local listing must have been ended and then relisted nationally within 48 hours of the original local listing insertion.

To learn more about relisting, go to Relisting Your Item.
