eBay Listing Analytics helps you become a more effective seller. You can review key metrics of your listings and see how your listings are performing.

Subscribing to Listing Analytics

Listing Analytics is free for all sellers. Here's how to subscribe:

  1. Go to My eBay.

  2. Click the Applications tab.

  3. Click the Go to the Apps Center link.

  4. Look for Listing Analytics.

  5. Click the Subscribe button.

After you've subscribed, you can use Listing Analytics any time by going to the Applications tab in My eBay.

Search to see your listings' performance

You can review the performance of your listings by searching for them by keyword or by item number.

To search by keyword:
  1. Enter keywords in the box under Search to see your listings' performance.

  2. Click the Search button.

The results will be presented in order of how they'd show up in standard eBay search by Best Match. Learn more about Best Match.

To search by item number:
  1. Enter the item number in the box under Search to see your listings' performance. You can review performance of an active listing or one that has ended within the previous 30 days by entering the item number of that listing.

  2. Click the Search button.

View performance data for all your listings

To review all your listings or listings for a particular category, click the View performance data for all your active listings link.

If you want to narrow your results, you can choose a category using the link right above the table or your listings.

You can also click the Auctions only or Buy it Now only links if you only want to view information for auction-style listings or fixed price listings.

Review key metrics

On the same line as each listing, you'll see key metrics that tell you how the listing is doing.

  • Rank – Rank is the search placement of your listing with respect to other listings. For example, a listing that ranks 5th place is more visible than a listing that ranks 37th place. The rank is the result of a search using the keywords that you entered in the listing analytics search box. Buyers may use different search words.

  • Format – Format describes whether an item is offered through an auction-style listing or a fixed price listing.

  • Impressions – Impressions are the number of times your listing appears to potential buyers in a search.

  • Clicks – Clicks are the number of times buyers clicked on your listing in search to view your listing.

  • Click through – Click through is the number of clicks divided by the number of impressions. A higher click through rate is better, meaning members were more likely to click on your item when they saw it in a search.

  • Sold items – Sold items are the number of times buyers purchased an item from your listing. This number will only be greater than one when your listing is a multiple quantity fixed price listing.

  • Sell through – Sell through is the number of items that sold divided by the number of clicks for your listing. A higher sell through rate is better, meaning members were more likely to buy your item when they clicked to view your listing.

  • Watchers – Watchers are the total number of members watching your listing.

  • Sales – Sales is the dollar value of items sold in a listing.

The information you receive doesn't include numbers from the past 24 to 48 hours. Because of the delay, if you make a change to a listing, we recommend you wait a few days before measuring your listing's performance again. Rank information is real-time. To update all the information, click the Revise link.

Identify best and worst performers

You can click on the headings above a column to sort by that topic. For example, if you click the Sold items heading, your listings are sorted by those that sold the most to those that sold the least. By sorting by column headings, you can quickly tell which listings are performing best or worst.

While you can see how your listings are performing against one another, it's also valuable to see how they're performing against the top 5 listings. This will let you know how your items are selling compared to other sellers.

The numbers you see in the top 5 are averages of the numbers from the top 5 auction-style listings and the top 5 fixed price format listings, based on a search with the keywords you entered. When you enter different keywords in the search box, different listings will show up in the top 5 and you may see different numbers.

By comparing your listings to each other, and the top 5 listings, you can see what works in a listing and what doesn't. The metrics can help you improve your "sales funnel," so you can increase the number of buyers that see, click, and buy from your listings. While you can expect that there will be fewer sales than clicks or impressions, you can see if there's any place in your "sales funnel" where performance levels are noticeably lower than other listings, allowing you to focus on that area.

Here are tips for improving click-through rate:

Compare your click-through rate to your sales. If members are clicking on your listing, but not buying, here are tips for improving sell-through rate:

  • Focus on customer satisfaction.

  • State your terms clearly.

  • The tips above for click-through rate also affect sell-through rate.

Export listing metrics

Listing Analytics can provide more metrics than those that you see on eBay. By exporting listing metrics, you can see additional performance data for your listings. If you have high sales volumes or more advanced requirements for analysis, you may prefer to export listing metrics and work within the spreadsheet application.

To export listing metrics, click the Download button that appears above search results and to the right.
