Sellers add Item Specifics in Sell Your Item (see more details)
Note: The layout for Item Specifics on View Item pages varies by category.
About Item Specifics
Sellers can add value to their listings by adding Item Specifics to their listings.
Item Specifics are determined by the category in which you sell your item. For example, the Item Specifics available in an apparel category would be related to size and style, while Item Specifics in a CD music category could refer to genre and condition. Item Specifics are also determined by additional characteristics that buyers would use to find an item in that category and related categories (for example, Antique Rugs or Rugs in Home & Garden).
Item Specifics you provide are displayed at the top of your item description and are used by buyers to search for items.
In most categories supporting Item Specifics, this information is optional. However, it is definitely to your benefit to complete as many of the details as are applicable.
Advantages of providing Item Specifics
Gives buyers an easy, fast way to search for your item.
Makes the basic facts about your item clear and accessible on your listing.
Gives buyers more details about your item and helps them make an informed purchase.
Provides an additional way for buyers to find your item (for example, by size or by style).
Provides consistent terminology and spelling (For example, to find a particular shoe size of 6.5, buyers do not have to search for variations including "sz 6 ½" or "6 and a half").
How buyers use Item Specifics
When buyers browse your item's category, the Item Specifics display as search options in a Product Finder.
Buyers navigate these Product Finder options using pull-down menus or links.
For example buyers could search for items:
Using links in the CD category, based on the Item Specifics of Sub-Genre, Album Type, and Condition.
Using a pull-down list in the Women's Shoes category, based on the Item Specifics of Style, Size, Color, Condition and Search Keywords.
Item Specifics will appear in fields, such as "Condition" or "Color", and can be added through either by typing in your details or by using a drop-down menu if there are some existing choices.
Within some categories, you will have the ability to add new specifics or information about existing specific types. Clicking the "+" sign allows you to add a new specific. When there are more details available to be added, they'll appear under the current ones you're using. You can also add custom details by clicking on the "Add a custom detail" link.
