Selling on the eBay International Market

What is the eBay International Market?

When you selling your items on the eBay International Market, your listings appear exactly as they do on eBay.com, and you can reach millions of buyers without creating separate listings for eBay websites in individual countries.

The International Market is different from eBay websites for individual countries because instead of having to list your item in every country where you want to offer it, you only need to create one listing and indicate where you're willing to ship. Buyers can then browse on the eBay International Market in their own languages, in their own time zones, and with your listings showing in their own currencies.

eBay International is available in the following countries:

eBay International Market buyers can:

  • Buy fixed price items listed on eBay.de (Germany), eBay.co.uk (UK) and eBay.com (US).

  • Search for or browse items in their own languages as well as see the prices in local currencies.

What you should know about international shipping

Here are some things to consider when shipping internationally:

  1. Shipping services
  2. Shipping costs

Shipping costs may vary greatly depending on:

    • Distance (location you ship from and to)

    • Shipping service (for example, standard, expedited, or 1-day)

    • Weight and dimensions of the package

Most sellers specify that buyers pay the shipping costs for international sales.

  3. Insurance
    • It's important to insure packages sent internationally.

    • Check if your shipping carrier provides automatic coverage and its level of coverage.

    • If the item is damaged due to inadequate packaging, the shipping service may not cover damages.

  4. Customs and documentation
    • All international packages must clear customs in the destination country.

    • Check if your shipping service handles customs clearance formalities.

Listing on the eBay International Market

To list your item on the eBay International Market, you only need to specify shipping information for the locations you choose.

Here's how:
  1. If you're given the option to choose a listing form, select More listing choices.

  2. On the Create your listing page, scroll to the Give buyers shipping details section.

Note: If you don't see a place to include international shipping costs, click the Add or remove options link. In the International shipping section, select Show international services and options, and then click the Save button.

  3. In the International Shipping section, select one of these shipping cost options from the drop-down menu:

    • Flat: Same cost to all buyers

    • Calculated: Cost varies according to buyer location

  4. From the Ship to drop-down menu, select Choose custom location.

  5. Select the locations where you're willing to ship the item. You can select as many as you like. The locations you select will all be charged either the flat or calculated cost for shipping, depending on what you select in step 3.

  6. Under Additional ship to locations, select any additional places where you want to offer shipping but want the buyer to contact you to find out the shipping cost.

Note: If you select the same location in steps 5 and 6, buyers in that location won't be told to contact you to find out the shipping cost.

  7. Complete and submit your listing.
