Appealing a case

You have an opportunity to appeal the outcome of a case once within 45 days after the case is closed.

You can appeal a case by going to the Resolution Center and providing any new documentation that you believe would affect the case.

For example, as a seller, you may be able to show that the buyer received a refund twice, through both PayPal and a credit card. Or as a buyer, you may have a manufacturer's statement that shows the item is a different model than the one in the seller's description.

If you're a seller and your appeal is successful, you'll:

  • Receive a credit in your PayPal account for the refund you issued; or

  • If you didn't issue a refund, eBay will no longer seek reimbursement.

If you're a buyer and your appeal is successful, you'll receive a refund.

eBay and PayPal fees from the transaction won't be refunded. In addition any other costs related to refunding or replacing an item won't be refunded.
