To find an item you want to buy, you start by entering words that describe your item into a search box. You can also set preferences to find the right item quickly and organize your search information.
If you’re not sure what you’re looking for, try browsing for items instead.
Find the search box at the top of most eBay pages.
Enter 2 or 3 words that describe the item and click the Search button.
For example, to search for a DVD player, type DVD player and click the Search button. If you don't find what you're looking for, try other words or look at other ways to narrow your search.
Tips:
As you start typing in any of the eBay search boxes, we offer you a drop-down list of suggested keywords based on popular searches by eBay members. This is different than when your browser makes suggestions based on your past searches. To hide the suggestions, click the Hide eBay suggestions link (next to the yellow icon) in the suggestions list. To show eBay suggestions again, click the yellow icon in the search box
If you want to start a new search, use the search box at the top of the page, not the one located above your search results. That way, the search system will look through all the items on eBay instead of searching within your current search results.
To find the right item quickly, you can:
Use advanced search. Click the Advanced Search link next to the search box and include more detail about what you're looking for.
Customize your search preferences and organize your results. Set up your preferences for buying formats, location, distance, and criteria you want to see on the left side of your search results page.
Refine your search. Specify more details about your item (such as price range and condition) on the left side of your search results page.
