Mailing Lists and Personal Information
eBay does not permit the sale of names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or other personal identifying information. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Internet Protocol (IP) information
Social networking accounts
Any tools or software specifically designed to send unsolicited commercial messages (UCE or "spam") will not be permitted.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Limits on account privileges
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
Social Security Numbers: eBay does not permit the sale of items containing the social security number of any person, living or dead, and does not allow listings that show personal information of third parties such as addresses and telephone numbers.
Telephone numbers: The transfer of phone numbers is generally prohibited by federal regulations enforced by the Federal Communications Commission. That’s why most phone numbers can’t be listed for sale on eBay. There is one exception: a phone number can be sold as part of the sale of a legitimate business, but this is only permitted for numbers that aren’t toll-free, and only if the listing makes it clear that the phone number is being sold as part of the sale of the actual business.
Why does eBay have this policy?
The ban on the sale of mailing lists and personal information is in place to promote a safe marketplace for all eBay members.
