Guidelines for vehicles
Bids made on eBay Motors vehicles are non-binding. In other words, a legal contract isn't created between the buyer and the seller, but the buyer should only bid with serious intent to complete the purchase. Please read our non-binding bid policy to learn more about this important policy.
Allowed and recommended
Outlining clear terms of the sale. The seller should clearly state which payment methods are accepted and what the payment time frame is.
Listing the exact mileage of the vehicle. If you're uncertain about the exact mileage, state that in your listing.
Disclosing structural damage and major repairs or replacements.
Making sure any liens on the vehicle are disclosed in the listing.
Providing the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the description is required. If your vehicle was manufactured after 1980 and sold in North America, you must include the unique 17-digit VIN in your listing. There may be some rare instances where your VIN isn't accepted, for example, if your vehicle was manufactured before 1980 or was manufactured outside North America. When that happens, you need to clearly state the VIN number in the Describe your vehicle section of the listing and also include the reason why it doesn't reflect a standard North American VIN. This applies to all vehicles in the Cars & Trucks category.

Asking buyers to check their state's emission standards. These standards could prevent the buyer from registering the vehicle.
Imported motor vehicles that have not received certification in advance from the United States Department of Transportation. To see if a vehicle is subject to an import restriction, check out the federal government's guidelines on import restrictions.
Misrepresenting the title, odometer reading, or vehicle identification number (VIN). Doing so violates state laws and is not allowed.

Pre-owned and new airbags cannot be shipped via the US Postal Service.
Not allowed
Motorcycle frames with titles. Sellers must list the frame only with no mention of a title or ownership documentation.
Odometer modification devices and calibration devices (whether manual or electronic). In many places, it's illegal to change the actual mileage on a motor vehicle.
References to "clean paperwork," "clear paperwork," or "pink slips"
