Want It Now

Want It Now postings (ads) are only permitted in the Want It Now area of the site and must comply with all eBay policies. Specific guidelines for Want It Now posts may be found in the Additional Information section below.

Responses to Want It Now posts should match the description of the item in the post. Multiple reports received about a member sending inappropriate responses will result in the suspension of a member’s response privilege.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Account suspension

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

Additional Information

The following apply specifically to Want It Now posts and responses.

  • Methods of direct communication included in a Want It Now post are not permitted. Examples include, links, User ID's, email addresses, phone numbers and live chat links.

  • Posts that contain personally identifiable information such as first and last name are prohibited. City, state and zip code may only be included to help potential responders determine proximity to the buyer.

  • Posts soliciting goods, services or monetary gifts are not allowed, even when the solicitation is done by or on behalf of a registered charity.

  • Want It Now posts and items sent in response should not contain vulgar or offensive language.

Report - Prohibited and Restricted items.

Report - Potentially infringing items.

Report - All other Want It Now violations.

Why does eBay have this policy?

Want It Now is designed to enable members to post want ads for items or services and for members to respond to those ads. Use of the feature for any other purpose or to post want ads that violate eBay policy harms the marketplace.
