Discussion boards usage policy The eBay discussion boards were created to provide a place where members can connect with other members, receive support, and learn more about eBay. By following the principles found in our community values, the entire community will continue to find the boards a helpful, educational, and enjoyable place to meet and converse. Courteous and respectful postings are expected from all participants. Use of eBay Groups is covered by the Groups usage policy and eBay Groups guidelines. Other community-created submissions, such as Reviews & Guides, are covered under the community content policy. Members that want to post on an eBay discussion board, chat room, or in the Answer Center must follow the discussion boards usage policies outlined in the Some Examples and Additional Information sections below. Please review these sections carefully. Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including: Removal of posts or other content that violate policies A temporary restriction (being banned from all of eBay's Community areas) An indefinite restriction (a permanent ban from all of eBay's Community areas) Limits on account privileges
All content—including posts, tags, signatures, images, and other content—added to the discussion boards needs to meet the guidelines in this policy. The following are common examples of violations that may result in immediate post removal, warning, board restriction, and/or suspension from eBay: Including another individual's contact information, email address, or both. Including profanity, vulgarity, hate speech, disruptive, or hostile comments, interpersonal disputes, or threats of violence. Including material (graphic or text) that is obscene, pornographic, or adult in nature. Attempting to impersonate eBay staff or other eBay members. Advertising merchandise, auctions, services, or commercial websites, including offers to trade, "wanted" posts, or charitable solicitations. Enabling, encouraging, or instructing others to leave eBay so that they can sell, buy, or participate in community functions on non-eBay websites that include the sale of merchandise, auctions, and services, such as off-eBay forums, off-eBay groups, and so on. Refusing to follow eBay staff instructions. Creating additional user IDs to avoid posting limits. Posting email content from private parties. Posting web addresses (URLs), item numbers, or websites in the title of a threaded discussion. Starting inappropriate threads on discussion boards. Posting listing reports or member violations. (To report suspected violations, please review site policies on the rules and policies page or contact us.) Discussing or reposting deleted posts or warning letters, or discussion of restricted, suspended, or no longer registered members. Misusing the Report button or link to maliciously or frivolously report content as not in compliance with eBay policy.
Content posted to eBay's public discussion boards, chat rooms, or Answer Center by eBay members are solely the opinion and responsibility of the author. eBay reserves the right to remove any post for any reason without warning or notice. User IDs with Feedback scores that are less than 10 are limited to 10 posts per day in the discussion boards and chat rooms. A restriction (being banned from the boards) or suspension of one user ID will apply to all of the user IDs registered to the member and may apply to other eBay members in the same household. The use of false registration information or creation of multiple accounts for use on eBay's discussion boards for the purpose of disruption or to avoid detection may result in permanent restriction or suspension of all associated registered accounts. Only persons aged 18 or over may post to the boards, even if an adult actually owns the registration or an underage person has some type of parental/guardian permission. Reporters, researchers, and third party representatives need permission prior to posting or emailing members in their official capacity. Posting copyrighted content without the permission of the copyright owner is not permitted.
Why does eBay have this policy? eBay has this policy to encourage a safe and enjoyable environment in the community forums where there can be open and honest communication among all members.
