Catalytic Converters and Test Pipes

The sale of catalytic converters on eBay is permitted with the exception of those prohibited by the US Government. See “Additional Information” below for a link to a list of banned catalytic converters.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Account suspension

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

Some Examples

The following are examples of items not permitted under this policy:

  • Oxygen sensor simulators (also known as, O2 Simulators or O2 Sims)

  • Malfunction indicator light eliminators (also known as, MIL elims)

Additional Information

To determine whether your item may be listed for sale on eBay, review the Environmental Protection Agency's “Guidelines for Buying and Using Aftermarket Catalytic Converters”.

Why does eBay have this policy?

eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since Federal Regulations restrict the sale of some catalytic converters and test pipes, sellers may not list those particular prohibited items on eBay.
