In this article

You can use eBay and PayPal to create shipping labels and packing slips for items you've sold on eBay.

Use eBay to print US Postal Service and FedEx labels, and PayPal to print USPS and UPS labels. You can also use eBay to print several USPS labels at once.

Printing labels on eBay is free. You only need to pay the shipping cost and the cost of any other services you choose.

The information on this page is for items you've sold on eBay and need to ship to a buyer. Return shipping labels through eBay hassle-free returns use a different process. Learn more about Hassle-free returns: Using the eBay returns process.

Advantages of creating shipping labels on eBay

Printing labels and packing slips on eBay can save you time, effort, and money.

You don't need special labels. Just print on a piece of paper and tape it to the package.
Services such as Delivery Confirmation and Signature Confirmation are less expensive if you print labels online instead of purchasing them at the post office.
Example: When you add Delivery Confirmation when you're printing a label on eBay, it costs $0.19. When you purchase Delivery Confirmation at the post office, it costs between $0.70 and $0.80. You can see your USPS discount when you purchase your postage on eBay.
When you include shipping information in your listing, we enter the shipping and item information on the shipping label.
You can insure the package. (Note: UPS and FedEx provide declared value coverage.) You'll see the insurance confirmation on your receipt and the shipping label.
We upload Tracking or Delivery Confirmation to eBay automatically. You can check the shipping status of your shipped items in the Shipping Labels section of My eBay. With your tracking information, buyers can also check the shipping status of packages in My eBay.
Tracking information, Delivery Confirmation, or Signature Confirmation can help you resolve an issue if a buyer reports that they didn't receive an item. Learn more about the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
You can receive Delivery Confirmation emails that tell you when the buyer has received the package. This feature is available free with USPS Priority Mail or for a minimal charge with other USPS services. If you use free carrier pickup for USPS Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express, you can save a trip to the post office.
You can have your PayPal account billed automatically for USPS and UPS labels without having to sign in to PayPal each time you print a label.
You can add custom text to your shipping labels.
If you create multiple USPS labels, you can combine orders into single shipments.

Creating a single shipping label

To create a single shipping label in My eBay:
  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. You may need to sign in.

  2. Click Sold on the left side of the page in the Sell section.

  3. Find the item you want to ship, and then select the Print shipping label link from the More actions drop-down menu.

    • Note: For UPS labels, you'll be taken to PayPal. Log in to your PayPal account.

  4. Make sure that your address and the buyer's address on the shipping label are correct.

    • We may complete item and other information for you based on your listing and the registration information for you and the buyer.

  5. Select your shipping carrier (USPS, UPS, or FedEx) from the Carrier drop-down menu in the package details section.

  6. Select your shipping method from the Service drop-down menu.

  7. Enter your package details, including package type, weight, and dimensions.

  8. Select any additional services that you want to add. (Fees may apply.)

    • If you're shipping with USPS and your transaction is $750 or more, Signature Confirmation is selected for you. You can remove this option, but keep in mind that requiring a signature at delivery helps protect you if your buyer doesn't receive the item.

  9. Click the button to complete your label.

  10. When your label is ready to print, click the Print postage label button. The printer control window appears.

  11. Make any selections and then click Print.

You can also choose to print your labels either as images or PDFs. To change your label printing preferences, click Printer label and receipt preferences on the Purchase and print postage page.

Note for Firefox users:

  1. When your label is ready to print, click the Print postage label button. A new Firefox window appears.

  2. In the new PDF label window, click the printer icon at the top right of the page.

  3. In the Print dialogue box, select your printer from the Name: drop-down menu.

  4. Click the OK button to print your label.

Instead of clicking on the Print postage label button, Firefox users can also click directly on the printer icon in the PDF of the label in the Print postage label window. When the Print dialogue box appears, select your printer and click OK.

Creating multiple USPS shipping labels

If you're shipping more than one item using USPS, you can create and print up to 50 shipping labels at the same time.

To create multiple shipping labels in My eBay:
  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages.

  2. In the Sell section on the left side of the page, click Awaiting shipment.

  3. Select your items, and then click Print shipping labels at the top of the page.

  4. Click Continue printing.

  5. On the next page, enter any missing information, such as item weight.

  6. Make any additional selections in the Delivery Options section.

  7. If there are shipments you can combine, we notify you and give you that option.

  8. Click Review and Pay when you're finished.

  9. If you want to print Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice (SCAN) form for the USPS, select that option.

  10. Review the information on the page and click Pay with PayPal.

  11. Click Print shipping labels.

Managing your labels in My eBay

You can manage labels you've already printed from the Shipping Labels section of My eBay. Here you can also track your shipments, see shipment details, reprint labels, void labels, print more labels, or print a packing slip.

To manage your shipping labels in My eBay:
  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages.

  2. Click Shipping labels on the left side of the page in the Sell section. The Shipping labels link also appears in Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro.

  3. You can reprint, void, print more labels, or print a packing slip by selecting the option next to the label.

  • You can reprint a label up to 10 times, but you can only reprint labels up to 24 hours after you first created and printed the label.

  • If you want to print multiple labels for several packages in the same shipment, don't use this option. Instead, print another label.

  • If you're shipping an order in multiple packages (for example, a lamp base in one box and the lampshade in another), you can create and print more than one label for the same order.

  • You can change the shipping service, and your PayPal account is billed for the cost of the additional label.

  • When you void a label, your PayPal account is credited for shipping and any other charges within 14 to 21 days.

  • You can void the shipping label and insurance up to 5 days after you first create and print a label.

  • FedEx labels are only charged when the package is delivered to your buyer. You don't need to void an unused FedEx label.

  • A packing slip is a receipt summarizing your sale on eBay.

  • To print a packing slip, first create a shipping label. If you don't want to create a shipping label, you can print the order details to use as a packing slip.

    To print order details:
    1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. You may be asked to sign in.

    2. Click Sold on the left side of the page in the Sell section.

    3. Find the item you want to print a packing slip for and click View order details next to the item.

Note: You may need to click the More actions drop-down menu to find the View order details option.

    4. On the Order details page, click Printer version on the top right side of the page.

    5. Print the page.
