Creating shipping labels and packing slips on eBay
In this article

You can create shipping labels and packing slips on eBay when you ship by United States Postal Service (USPS) and print one label at a time. You can go through PayPal to print UPS shipping labels or to print multiple USPS shipping labels in bulk.

Benefits of creating shippings labels on eBay

Here's how printing labels and packing slips on eBay can save you time and effort:

  • When you include shipping information in your listing, the shipping and item information are prefilled on the shipping label.

  • You can insure the package. You'll see the insurance confirmation on your seller's receipt and the shipping label.

  • Tracking or Delivery Confirmation information is automatically uploaded to eBay. You can check the shipping status of your shipped items in the Sold section of My eBay. Your buyers can also check the shipping status of packages from My eBay, so you’ll receive fewer emails from buyers.

  • You can receive Delivery Confirmation emails that tell you when the buyer has received the package. This is available free with Priority Mail or for a minimal charge with other USPS services.

  • If you use free carrier pickup (for Priority Mail or Express Mail), you can save a trip to the post office—otherwise, you can just drop off your package at the post office counter instead of standing in line.

  • You can have your PayPal account billed automatically without having to sign in to PayPal each time you print a label.

  • It's free. You pay only for the cost of shipping.

Creating a shipping label

To create shipping labels in My eBay:
  1. Sign in to My eBay and click Sold on the left side of the page.

  2. Select the check box next to each item you want to ship.

  3. Click the Print Shipping Label button.

    • The Pay for shipping and print your label page appears.

  4. Fill out the information on the shipping label.

    • Item and other information may be prefilled for you based on the registration information for you and the buyer.

    • You can insure the package. You'll see the insurance confirmation on your seller's receipt and the shipping label.

    • You can request Delivery Confirmation (free with Priority Mail and for a small fee with some other USPS services).

  5. On the Print Label Review page, review your label information. If needed, click the Change button and make any changes.

    • If you're shipping internationally, you'll see customs forms. Fill those out.

  6. Click the Pay and Print button.

  7. Review your payment information.

    • If you don’t have a PayPal billing agreement, you'll be asked to log in to PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, you'll need to create one using a credit card for your payment method.

    • If you have a PayPal billing agreement, you won't be asked to log in to PayPal and will be billed automatically.

  8. Click the Continue button.

    • The Your label has printed page appears, with a Print dialog box.

  9. Click OK, and your shipping label will print.

International shipping forms

Duties or tariffs are charged on certain items when they're shipped out of the United States. You can get the forms when printing labels through eBay, PayPal, or through the USPS website. Attach the appropriate forms to the outside of the package so customs officials can easily examine them.

Reprinting a label

You can reprint a label by going to the Sold section of My eBay and clicking View order details next to the item. On the Order Details page, click the Reprint link in the shipping information next to the item. You can reprint a label up to 10 times.

Voiding a label

You can void a label within 48 hours of creating the label. Your PayPal account will be credited for shipping and any other charges within 14 days.

To void a label:
  1. On the Order Details page, click the Void link in the shipping information next to the item.

  2. Select your reason for voiding the label.

  3. If you want to send a message to the buyer, enter it in the text box.

  4. Click Void shipping label.

Creating a packing slip

A packing slip is a receipt summarizing your sale on eBay. To print a packing slip, click the Print a packing slip link on the Shipping Label Confirmation page after printing a shipping label.

Fill out and print the packing slip and include it in the package before shipping.

Getting the package to the post office

Once you’ve printed your shipping label and prepared your package, you can contact the USPS and request that they pick up your Priority Mail or Express Mail package and any other packages for free with your regular mail service. You can also request package pick-up on demand for a fee. The USPS will also pick up First-Class Mail, Media Mail, and international mail.

If you choose to take the package to the post office, just print your shipping label and package your item in advance. You can leave the package on the post office counter instead of standing in line.

Checking shipping status

To check the shipping status of a package, go to the Sold section of My eBay and click the item’s tracking number.
