Accepting PayPal

When you offer PayPal as a payment method on your eBay listings, your buyers can pay quickly and conveniently using a credit card or checking account. You can also use PayPal internationally.

If you don’t already have a PayPal account, you can sign up here.

If you already have a PayPal account, you can accept PayPal payments from buyers by following these steps:
  1. Click the "Site Map" link located at the top of most eBay pages.

  2. In the middle column of the page, under the heading "My Account" click the "Preferences" link. You may be asked to sign in.

  3. In the "Selling Preferences" section, click the "Show" link next to "Payment from buyers."

  4. Click the "Edit" link.

  5. Under "PayPal Preferences" select "Offer PayPal as a payment method in all my listings."

  6. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.

Even if you don't have a PayPal account yet, you can still accept PayPal on your listings. Just select PayPal as a payment method on eBay's Sell Your Item form, enter the email address where you want payment sent, and you'll be ready to receive online payment from your buyers. You’ll be asked to sign up once you receive your first payment.

Some of the benefits of PayPal include:

For sellers, there is a fee for each payment completed through PayPal. However, there are no setup fees, no monthly fees, and no minimum charge requirements.

Important: If you offer PayPal as a payment option on eBay (either using logos or text in the item description) you must accept all forms of PayPal payment including account balance, bank account transfer, and credit cards. You must have a Premier or Business PayPal account - or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal account to a Premier or Business account - if you receive a credit card payment. You may not communicate to eBay buyers that you will only accept specific forms of PayPal payment (see PayPal Payments Policy).

Updating or correcting your PayPal email address on eBay

Each time you sell an item on eBay, we'll ask you which PayPal email address you want to use to receive your payment. You can change it, or leave it the same as the last item you sold. You can see the email address in the section on the Sell Your Item form titled "Decide how you'd like to be paid."
