From the Advanced Search page, do this: |
Bidder |
Use this option to see a list of the items that a particular bidder has bid on or bought.
Notes: To search for items by bidder, for privacy reasons, you must know the member's User ID. If you know the eBay member's email address, you can find their User ID by using Find a Member. To protect bidder privacy, not all items that this member has bid on may be displayed.
Although you can use search by bidder to view your own current auctions or history, eBay recommends you use My eBay instead. My eBay has many more functions to manage your bidding and buying activities. |
On the left side of the page under Search, click the “Items by Bidder” link. In the Enter Bidder’s User ID box, type the bidder’s User ID. To include completed listings, select the check box. (Learn more about Completed Listings.) Choose a bidder option. Select the number of results you want per page. Click the Search button.

Category |
Use this option to quickly search for items in a specific area of the site. You can search within a category in a basic or advanced search, your search results, or in an eBay Motors search.
Note: Some categories also include Product Finders to help you narrow your search by characteristic, for example, by color, size, or condition. Learn more about Product Finders. |
From the In this category list, select a category. Select any additional search options, as needed. Click the Search button.
Note: You can also search by category from a basic search, from your search results, or in eBay Motors.
Note: You can also search by category in a basic search in the same way, or you can search by category from your search results by selecting a new category from the list to the right of the Search box, and clicking Search. |
Completed Listings |
Use this option to see what a particular item has sold for—maybe so you can decide how to price a similar item you want to sell or to see what you should bid or pay for a similar item. (Learn more about bidding on eBay.) Searching by completed listings gives you listings that have ended within the last 15 days. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Select any additional search options, as needed. Select the Completed listings only check box. Click the Search button.
Note: If you are not currently signed-in, you will be prompted to do so before you can see your search results. |
Country or Region |
Use this option to find items located in another country, for example, dishes from Italy, jewelry from Indonesia, or paintings from Japan. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to Location and choose an option.
Note: For detailed information about the each option, click the “search locations” link below the options. Click the Search button.

Currency |
Use this option to find items listed in a particular currency, for example, U.S. dollar, Euro, or Swiss franc. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to Currency and choose an option from the list. Click the Search button.

Favorite Searches |
Use this option to search for your favorite saved searches. Learn more about Saving Your Favorite Searches.
Notes: You must be signed in to see a list of your Favorite Searches. You can run up to 10 of your most recent Favorite Searches from the Advanced Search page or the main Buy page. You can see all of your Favorite Searches (up to 100) from My eBay. |
From the Favorite Searches drop-down list near the top-right of the page, select the Favorite Search that you want to run and click the Go button.
You can also search by Favorite Search from My eBay and from the main Buy page.
To search by Favorite Search from My eBay:
Go to My eBay. Do one of the following:
On the left side of the page, under All Favorites, click the “Searches” link. or To quickly run the search from the My Summary or All Buying pages, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select the search you want from the Shortcuts to My Favorites list.
3. Click the search name you want to run.
To search by Favorite Search from the main Buy Hub page:
Go to the main Buy page. On the right, under My eBay at Glance, select a Favorite Search from the Favorites drop-down list.

Gift Item |
Use this option to search for items that might make a great gift. Gift items can also be gift services, such as gift wrapping, gift card, express shipping, and shipping directly to the gift recipient.
Notes: Sellers decide which items they think would make great gifts. Sellers also choose the gift services they want to offer. Gift item listings include a wrapped present or gift icon . |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to Show Only, and select the Gift items checkbox. Click the Search button. All gift items that match your search criteria appear, and check boxes for gift services appear on the left under Search Items, Gift items. To search for items that include gift services, select one or more of the check boxes, and click the Show Items button.
Note: The Gift Services check boxes only appear after a gift items search is performed. |
ISBN |
Use this option to search by ISBN, which is a unique identifier for books.
Note: Beginning January 1, 2007, all books will be identified by a 13-digit ISBN. However, you can still search for books on eBay with either the old 10-digit or new 13-digit ISBN. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type the ISBN. Do not include the hyphens. Click the Search button.

Item Number |
Since item numbers are unique, use this option to give an exact match, saving you the time of having to scroll through multiple listings. You can find the item number on the item’s listing page, to the right of the listing title. The item number is also included in any email that you receive about the listing. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type the item number. Click the Search button.
Note: You can also enter the item number in any search box. |
Keyword in Title or Description |
Use this option to search using words that describe the item you're looking for. By default, eBay searches for these keywords in the title of the item listing.
In addition to searching the title of the item listing, you can choose to also have eBay search the description of the item listing.
In some cases, eBay will automatically expand your search to include items based on the intent of your search rather than matching the exact keywords. For more information, see Keyword Search Category Expansions.(Available for US, Canada, UK and Germany) |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. To search both the item title and description, select the Search title and description check box. Select any additional search options, as needed. Click the Search button. Optional: To narrow your search results, use search commands.
Note: You can also search by keyword in any search box. |
Multiple Item Listings |
Use this option to search for a group or a collection of similar items or lots. Learn more about multiple item listings. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to Multiple item listings. Select an option from the list. Type the number of listings in the box. To search for items listed as lots, select the Items listed as lots check box. Click the Search button.

Seller, Single Seller |
Use this option to see items listed by a particular seller. When you search by seller, you enter the seller’s User ID, and eBay displays the exact match as well as any close matches. In addition to accessing the seller’s items, you can also access the seller’s member profile and eBay Store. |
On the left side of the page under Search, click the “Items by Seller” link. In the Enter seller’s User ID box, type the seller’s User ID. Select or clear any of the check boxes, as needed. To sort your search results by time or price, from the Sort by list, select your sort option. To choose the number of results you want to display on a page, from the Results per page list, select a number. Click the Search button.

Seller, Multiple Sellers |
Use this option to see items listed by a group of sellers. When you search by seller, you enter the sellers’ User IDs.
Notes: You can search for up to 10 sellers at one time, or you can exclude up to 10 sellers from your results. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to From Sellers, and select the From specific sellers option. Enter the sellers’ User IDs (not the store names) in the box. Do one of the following:
To search for all matching items offered by the specified sellers, select Include from the menu. To search for all matching items except those offered by the specified sellers, select Exclude.

Seller, My Favorite Sellers |
Note: For privacy reasons, you must know the member's User ID to use this feature. If you know the eBay member's email address, you can find their User ID by using Find a Member.
Use this option you can search among favorite sellers. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to From Sellers and select the From My Favorite Sellers option. Click the Search button.

ZIP/Postal Code |
Use this option to search for items listed by sellers in your area, either by ZIP/Postal Code or by city. Finding items near you can help you avoid high shipping costs, especially if you're considering purchasing an item that is oversized or fragile.
To further narrow your search, you can choose to search within a selected distance of the ZIP/Postal Code or city. For example, you can search within 25 miles of the ZIP Code 95051 or within 50 miles of Denver, Colorado.
Note: If a seller entered an invalid ZIP/Postal Code, their listing will not display in a distance-based search. |
In the Enter keyword or item number box, type your keywords. Scroll down to Items near me, select the check box, and choose a distance limit. Enter a ZIP or Postal Code, or choose a nearby city. Click the Search button. Review your search results and if needed, do any of the following:
To change the distance or ZIP/Postal Code, on the left side of your search results page, scroll down to Search Options, revise the location, and click the Show Items button to search again. To sort your search results by nearest distance, from the Sort by menu above the item list, choose Distance: nearest first. (If you did not previously enter a ZIP/Postal Code, you may be asked to enter one.) The page refreshes and the distance and location information displays in the right column
Note: If a seller entered an invalid ZIP/Postal Code, their item will display at the bottom of the list.
