Under certain circumstances, sellers can ask their buyers to revise the neutral or negative Feedback they’ve left.
How Feedback revision requests work
You can send a limited number of Feedback revision requests per calendar year. Eligibility for Feedback revision is based on the total number of Feedback ratings (positive + neutral + negative) you've received as a buyer and seller combined.
You can make 5 requests for Feedback revision per calendar year, regardless of how many ratings you've gotten. If you receive more than 1,000 Feedback ratings per rolling 12 months, you're eligible to make additional requests -- 5 for every 1,000 ratings received.
You can request a Feedback revision only after you’ve resolved a problem with the transaction or if you think the buyer accidentally left you wrong Feedback.
Communicate with the buyer and clearly explain the reason you want the feedback revised.
You can request only one Feedback revision per transaction.
Feedback you received more than 30 days ago does not qualify for revision.
The number of Feedback revision requests that you're eligible for doesn't accumulate from year to year.
Feedback left by currently suspended users do not qualify for revision.
You should report any buyer who demands goods or services not offered in your listing in exchange for Feedback.
Submitting a Feedback revision request
To submit a Feedback revision request:
Review the list of eligible Feedback entries and select the ones you want to request revisions for. The number of Feedback revision requests available to you until the end of the current year is displayed in the top right corner of the Request Feedback Revision page.
Specify the reason for your request by selecting one of the radio buttons under “Give the buyer a reason for the request.”
Enter any additional info for the buyer in the text box. You can enter up to 500 characters.
Click the Send button to submit your request.
You’ll see a confirmation page notifying you that your request has been emailed to the buyer, and you’ll receive a copy of the email.
What happens next?
We’ll send the buyer an email alert that he or she has a revision request. The email includes your reason for requesting the revision and the message you wrote. The buyer has a 10-day window in which either to agree and revise the Feedback or disagree and state a reason.
If the buyer has not responded within 7 days, we’ll automatically remind the buyer of the request. If the buyer responds, we’ll notify you of the buyer’s decision immediately by email. If the 10-day window expires with no response from the buyer, we’ll notify you by email that your Feedback revision request has expired.
Regardless of the outcome of your request, please respect the buyer’s decision.
