Credit and debit card policy

The sale of credit cards, debit cards, and money orders is restricted or not allowed on eBay.

While certain types of inactive and collectible cards may be listed and sold on eBay, in order to protect sensitive cardholder information and comply with government regulations, active credit, debit and store cards are not allowed.

What is the policy?

The following types of cards and money orders are not allowed: 

  • Active credit, debit, or store credit cards, including prepaid credit cards 
  • Non-embossed bank or store credit cards 
  • Current and active money orders
  • Expired bank and store cards

The following types of cards are allowed:

  • Blank plastic cards with or without magnetic strips

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.
