Transactions outside of eBay aren't eligible for our features and services, including our buyer protection programs, Feedback, requests for another member's contact information, and the ability to appeal unpaid items.

We don't allow members to solicit buying or selling items outside of eBay. See our policy on offers to buy or sell outside of eBay for more information.

How to check if a transaction was outside of eBay

To check whether your transaction was on eBay:
  1. Go to My eBay and sign in.

  2. Click the Purchase History link on the left side of the page.

  3. Find the item you bought, along with the seller's eBay user ID.

If the item isn't in your account information in My eBay, there's a good chance the transaction happened outside of our website.

How to report a possible fraudulent transaction

If you bought or sold an item outside of eBay and believe you were defrauded, please report it to us by using one of these links:

We also encourage you to do the following:

  • Contact local law enforcement.

  • File a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

  • Contact the payment service you used (if applicable).

  • Contact your credit card company (if applicable). Most companies protect against online fraud or misrepresentation.

  • Contact the shipping company.
