Protecting your account
We take a number of steps to help ensure the security of your account. But there's also a lot you can do. Find out more about ways you can protect your account.
Solve a problem
If we need you to update your account or provide any information to eBay, we will always send a copy of our request to your Messages folder in My eBay. We’ll never ask you to email us your personal information.
We often send marketing and promotional emails that may not appear in your Messages folder. If you suspect that an email might be fake, be cautious and don’t click on any links. You can change your communication preferences by going to My eBay > Account > Communication Preferences.
If you receive what you believe to be a suspicious or scam email, let us know by forwarding it to email@example.com. Learn more about recognizing fake emails.
If you notice any changes to your account that you didn't authorize, sign in to your account and change your password and secret question and answer. If you can't sign in, contact us immediately by clicking the "Contact us" link on our home page. Learn about about what to do if you suspect account theft.
If the message was sent from us, you'll also find a copy of it in your Messages folder in My eBay. If it's not there, it may be fake.
