NOTICE TO BUYERS IN BRAZIL
On December 9, 2019, Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telégrafos (Brazilian Post and Telegraph Corporation) commonly known as Correios, published a statement explaining that as of January 1, 2020, the Receita Federal do Brasil (Brazilian Internal Revenue Service) will require that all packages sent from abroad into Brazil via Correios include the number of Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas (individual registry equivalent to Tax ID) or CPF for individuals, or the number of Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Jurídicas (entity registry equivalent to Tax ID) or CNPJ for entities.
As a result, from January 1, 2020, Correios will require the number of CPF or CNPJ of the buyer, to process and clear customs, all packages sent from abroad into Brazil. The buyer must include their CPF or CNPJ with their shipping address. If the Buyer fails to provide the CPF or CNPJ number to Correios, it may result in the prohibition of entrance of the package, the return of the package to its origin or destruction of the package in case the return is not possible.
In order for buyers in Brazil to be able to continue receiving their packages sent via Correios, eBay requests all buyers in Brazil to include their CPF or CNPJ in the field marked as Street Address 2 in their shipping address on the checkout page.
Brazil buyers can also add their CPF or CNPJ for new orders already placed, to comply with Correios requirement through Correios Minhas Importações (My Imports) tool which is accessible through Correios web page in this link:
