Fast, On-Time Delivery. Guaranteed.

For the first time, eBay buyers can filter items by guaranteed delivery date.

Your listings that meet the three program requirements will automatically feature delivery dates guaranteed by eBay. Sellers get a visibility boost and buyers get their items in 3 days or less. Guaranteed.

How It Works

Sellers with a minimum of 100 transactions per year and a late shipment rate of 5% or below are eligible.

You can use the Guaranteed Delivery bulk editing tool to activate more of your listings for the program.

1

Sellers list their items with same- or 1-day handling, an item location postal code, and eligible carrier services.

2

eBay calculates the guaranteed dates based on buyer location, item location postal code, and carrier delivery times.

3

Buyers filter items by delivery date and receive their order on time. If they don't, eBay will make it right.

Late Delivery Protection

Through the end of 2018, if a guaranteed item arrives late, eBay will always make it right for your buyer with one of these options:

  • Shipping cost reimbursement
  • Voucher for a future eBay purchase
  • Free return label if the seller accepts returns

After the end of the year, eBay will continue to make it right when items arrive late and buyers make a claim, as long as the seller met their handling time commitment.

  • Seller Eligibility

Which sellers are eligible to offer eBay Guaranteed Delivery?

Sellers who have a minimum of 100 eBay transactions per year and a late shipment rate of 5% or less are eligible. Note that even if you meet these eligibility requirements, there are listing-level requirements that must also be met if you'd like your listings to be included in the program.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

If you're eligible, we will send you an email and a message in My eBay Messages to let you know.

If I'm eligible, are there any changes I need to make?

The program is designed so that you don't have to change the way you sell. Per eBay best practices, you must meet your handling time commitment and upload tracking information within your stated handling time to stay eligible for the program.

If I'm eligible, are all my listings guaranteed?

No, only the listings that meet all Guaranteed Delivery listing requirements will display to buyers with a Guaranteed Delivery date.

    How can I opt out?

You can opt out at any time by navigating to Account Settings > Site Preferences > eBay Guaranteed Delivery Setting. Click "Show," then "Edit". Lastly, select "I want to opt out of eBay Guaranteed Delivery," and click "Continue." You may opt back in at any time.

  • Listing Eligibility

Which listings are eligible for Guaranteed Delivery?

Listings that meet the following requirements are eligible, meaning they can display to buyers with a Guaranteed Delivery date:

    • Set same-day or 1-day handling time. If you offer same-day handling, we recommend setting your same-day cutoffs.
    • State eligible carrier services in listings. Generic listings such as standard, economy, expedited, and flat rate freight do not meet this requirement.
    • Add a postal code to the item location.

You can use the Guaranteed Delivery bulk editing tool to see which of your listings don't yet meet the above requirements, and update them in bulk.

What is the Guaranteed Delivery bulk editing tool, and how do I use it?

You can check the Guaranteed Delivery bulk editing tool to see if any of your listings are missing information that would make them eligible for Guaranteed Delivery. The bulk editing tool makes it easy to see what updates need to be made and to make changes to a group of listings at the same time.

    1. Go to the Guaranteed Delivery bulk editing tool.

  • Late Deliveries

What happens if an item does not arrive by the guaranteed date?

Through the end of 2018, if a guaranteed item arrives late, eBay will always make it right for your buyer with one of these options:

    • Shipping cost reimbursement
    • Voucher for a future eBay purchase
    • Free return label if the sellers accepts returns

This late delivery coverage does not protect your late shipment rate. Sellers are still required to meet the program requirements of 97% on-time handling and 95% on-time tracking to continue offering Guaranteed Delivery. These requirements are in-line with eBay Top Rated Seller requirements.

After the end of the year, eBay will continue to make it right when items arrive late and buyers make a claim, as long as the seller met their handling time commitment.

If I met my same-day or one-day handling time but the item is still delivered late, can buyers leave negative feedback?

eBay will remove negative or neutral feedback regarding late deliveries if the seller met their handling time.

What happens if a guaranteed item arrives late due to weather delays?

eBay will protect the seller and make it right with the buyer when guaranteed items arrive late due to major and unexpected weather events.

  • Performance Requirements

What are the performance requirements for Guaranteed Delivery?

To ensure a reliable and consistent delivery experience for Guaranteed Delivery items, sellers must meet the following requirements to continue offering Guaranteed Delivery:

    • A minimum of 97% on-time handling on Guaranteed Delivery transactions.
    • A minimum of 95% on-time tracking upload on Guaranteed Delivery transactions.

These requirements are in-line with eBay Top Rated Seller requirements. Sellers who do not meet these requirements risk having their listings deactivated from the program.

How can I track my Guaranteed Delivery performance?

You can track your performance in the Guaranteed Delivery dashboard in the Seller Hub Performance tab. Data will populate once you have made at least 50 Guaranteed Delivery transactions, and will be updated every two weeks.

How does Guaranteed Delivery affect my top-rated seller status?

As with the Top-Rated Seller program, you must meet on-time handling and valid tracking upload requirements to continue offering Guaranteed Delivery.

  • Door-to-Door Guarantee

    What is the door-to-door guarantee?

The door-to-door guarantee is a version of Guaranteed Delivery for large sellers with multi-location warehouses. Sellers in this version of the program guarantee their own delivery dates based on their ability to deliver to various regions. To participate in this version of the program, you are required to create rate tables that define your regional shipping speeds and costs.

    How do I opt in?

To opt in to the door-to-door guarantee, navigate to Account Settings > Site Preferences > eBay Guaranteed Delivery Setting. Click "Show," then "Edit". In the opt in screen, click "Learn More" and select "Door-To-Door Guarantee." Lastly, click "Count Me In."

After opting in to the door-to-door guarantee, what are my next steps?

    After opting in, you must:

    1. Create rate tables to set your regional shipping speeds and costs.
      • Watch this video to learn how to create a rate table.
      • Reference our Guaranteed Delivery regional maps and zip codes documents as you create rate tables.
    2. Activate your listings using the Guaranteed Delivery bulk editing tool.

What happens if an item is delivered late?

Through the end of 2018, if a guaranteed item arrives late, eBay will always make it right for your buyer. This means that if a buyer makes a claim about a late delivery, eBay will provide them a shipping cost reimbursement. If the shipping was already free, eBay will provide a voucher to be used toward a future eBay purchase.

This late delivery coverage does not protect your late shipment rate. Sellers offering a door-to-door guarantee are still required to meet the program requirements of 97% on-time delivery and 95% on-time tracking.

After the end of the year, if an item arrives late, sellers offering a door-to-door guarantee are responsible for making it right for the buyer if they make a claim. eBay will always handle customer service with the buyer in the case of late deliveries.

  • eBay Guaranteed Delivery Seller Terms & Conditions

    Effective Date: May 1, 2018

To participate in eBay Guaranteed Delivery, you must be an eligible seller with eligible listings and accept these terms. You may opt out of the program at any time by adjusting your account setting by navigating to Account Settings > Site Preferences > eBay Guaranteed Delivery Setting. You may opt back in at any time. Your participation will be subject to the eligibility requirements outlined below. Changes to your account settings may require up to 24 hours to take effect.

    Eligibility

eBay will determine eligibility requirements for sellers. eBay will establish an evaluation period to evaluate your delivery record and may require that you meet minimum seller performance standards to use this feature. These standards include 97% on-time shipping and 95% on-time tracking for eBay Guaranteed Delivery transactions. Your eligibility for this feature will be evaluated when you opt in and periodically while you use this feature. eBay may at any time limit or terminate your use of this feature without notice to you.

For a listing to be eligible for Guaranteed Delivery's handling time option, it must:

    • Be an item physically located in the United States.
    • Be a fixed-price item.
    • Be listed on eBay.com.
    • Not be in a restricted category.
    • Offer same- or 1-day handling.
    • Include the item location postal code.
    • Use an eligible carrier service.

For a listing to be eligible for Guaranteed Delivery's door-to-door option, it must:

    • Be an item physically located in the United States.
    • Be a fixed-price item.
    • Be listed on eBay.com.
    • Be associated to a rate table.
    • Use an eligible carrier.

eBay reserves the right at any time to alter the listing eligibility requirements for this feature. Items that eBay determines would not benefit from this feature or could create problems or liabilities may be excluded from eligibility for this feature.

    Handling Time Commitment

If you choose to use this feature by making a handling time commitment for the item(s) you list on eBay, you are committing to a zero or 1-day handling time and to uploading carrier tracking information to eBay within the handling time period. To enable a listing you must choose a zero or 1-day handling time for the listing. If you choose a longer handling time the listing will not be eligible for a guaranteed delivery date. This is a list of eligible carrier services. You will be financially responsible for any late delivery if you fail to meet your handing time commitment and if you do not upload tracking information.

    Door-to-Door Delivery Commitment

If you choose to use this feature by making a door-to-door delivery commitment for the item(s) you list on eBay, you are committing to use rate tables to provide delivery speed commitments for items that can be delivered in 4 days or less. Sellers must use one of these eligible carriers. You are responsible for the end-to-end shipping and handling of the item and will be financially responsible for any late delivery as described below. You must also upload carrier tracking information to eBay.

To enable a listing, associate your listings to a rate table that provides a delivery speed commitment of 4 days or less for at least one region.

    Late Delivery & Financial Responsibility

Through December 31, 2018, eBay will cover "make it right" costs in the event that a buyer claims eBay Guaranteed Delivery specific recompense related to the late delivery of a guaranteed item. We reserve the right to rescind this seller benefit at any time. Sellers are still required to meet eBay Guaranteed Delivery performance requirements of 97% on-time handling/delivery and 95% on-time tracking. eBay will not protect against late shipment defects, and seller's listings can be deactivated from the program if they fall below the performance requirements.

After December 31, 2018, if an order with a guaranteed delivery date arrives late, the transaction will be flagged as "Arrived Late", and your buyer will have the following options and your financial responsibility is as follows:

Buyer options for late delivery: Seller responsibility if door-to-door commitment or handing time not met or eBay shipping label not used in case of handling time commitment: Seller responsibility if handling time commitment met:
Return the item (If seller offers returns) Refund for item price and any outbound and return shipping costs Refund for item price. eBay to cover outbound and return shipping costs
Keep the item if shipping fee paid Refund the shipping cost None - eBay to refund shipping cost
Keep the item if free shipping None - eBay to issue a voucher towards next purchase None - eBay to issue a voucher towards next purchase

Buyers can submit a buyer "make it right" claim online beginning on the day following the missed guaranteed delivery date and for thirty (30) days from such missed date.

You are financially responsible for any costs resulting from your failure to comply with your obligations under these Terms. You may be excused from your financial responsibility where the failure was due to circumstances such as severe weather, natural disaster, national emergency, labor strike, or governmental act. Any amount owed to your buyer will be added to your seller invoice or charged against your automatic payment method.

    eBay Money Back Guarantee

eBay Money Back Guarantee will cover items purchased with a guaranteed delivery date. A buyer may report that they didn't receive an item the day after the guaranteed delivery date. If you did not use an eBay shipping label platform or upload carrier tracking information for the transaction, you have 24 hours from the time your buyer reports a problem to do so. eBay will step in to help, reimburse the buyer and charge you for such reimbursement, if you do not upload tracking information within 24 hours. If you upload carrier tracking information or if you used an eBay labels platform, eBay will follow the normal eBay Money Back Guarantee process.

    Disagreements

In the event that you are notified that you will be held financially responsible for missing the guaranteed delivery date but you disagree, you may call eBay Customer Service to document your disagreement. eBay may require additional information to evaluate and resolve the issue. Failure to provide requested information in a timely manner will result in eBay closing your request. Regardless of your disagreement, your buyer will receive the requested "make it right" immediately and if eBay determines that you have financial responsibility, such amounts will be added to your seller invoice or charged against your automatic payment method.

    Feedback

If a Guaranteed Delivery item arrives late even though the seller met their handling time commitment, eBay will remove any negative or neutral feedback left by the buyer regarding late delivery.

    Updates and Discontinuation

eBay has the right to alter, amend, replace, suspend temporarily, and/or discontinue permanently, this feature and/or any feature functionality at any time without notice to you. These Terms may be amended from time to time and will remain in effect so long as you continue to use this feature.

    General

These Terms apply to you in addition to the eBay.com User Agreement, which is incorporated in these terms by reference. Where there is any conflict or inconsistency between these Terms, the User Agreement, any other agreement or policy between you and eBay, these Terms will control as to all matters that are explicitly addressed in these Terms. For all matters not explicitly discussed in these Terms, the User Agreement, other agreement or policy will control.
