How eBay Advertising attribution works

eBay currently reports sales and charges for ads differently based on the product and listing site ID.

Promoted Listings - General campaign strategy

eBay will report an Attributed sale from a general campaign when a buyer purchases the same item that was featured in the ad that was clicked on by any buyer in the most recent 30 days.

The ad fee is charged when a buyer purchases the promoted item from a general ad that any buyer clicked on in the most recent 30 days. The item must be promoted at the time of click and the time of sale. The ad fee is based on the ad rate in effect at the time of the sale.

Promoted Listings - Priority campaign strategy

  • Direct attribution: eBay will report a Direct sale from a priority campaign when a buyer purchases the same item that was featured in the ad they originally clicked on in the most recent 30 days. Ad fees are charged on a cost per click basis.
  • Halo attribution: eBay will report a Halo item sale from a priority campaign when a buyer clicks on a listing promoted with a priority strategy, then purchases a different item from the same seller within 30 days of that click. Ad fees are charged on a cost per click basis.

The purchased item doesn't need to be promoted, and the seller won't pay any additional ad fees for this subsequent sale, as charges are still only charged for clicks on the ad.

Promoted Stores

eBay will report a sale from a Promoted Stores campaign when an item is purchased from your store within 30 days of a buyer clicking on one of your Promoted Stores ads. Ad fees are charged on a cost per click basis.

Promoted Offsite

  • Direct attribution: eBay will report a Direct sale from a Promoted Offsite campaign when a buyer purchases the same item that was featured in the ad they originally clicked on in the most recent 30 days. Ad fees are charged on a cost per click basis.
  • Halo attribution: eBay will report a Halo item sale from a Promoted Offsite campaign when a buyer clicks on a listing promoted using Promoted Offsite, then purchases a different item from the same seller within 30 days of that click. Ad fees are charged on a cost per click basis.

The purchased item doesn't need to be promoted, and the seller won't pay any additional ad fees for this subsequent sale, as charges are still only charged for clicks on the ad.
