Watch out for fire hazards if you own micromobility devices like e-bikes, e-scooters, or hoverboards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) shares key tips to help you stay safe:

• Check if your micromobility device meets applicable consensus safety standards
• Stay alert when charging micromobility products. Do not charge them while sleeping.
• Only use the charger that came with your device and an approved replacement battery pack
• When charging, stick to the manual and unplug the device when done
• Ensure that the battery pack of your device has not been reworked or repurposed by unqualified personnel
• Never discard lithium batteries into the trash or general recycling. Bring them to your local battery recycler or hazardous waste collection center.

Having problems with a battery from a micromobility device? Report it to CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.
