An Important New Change to Import Regulations for Mexico
Effective January 1, 2025, the Mexican government requires the following information for all shipments entering the country:
- Recipient’s full name
- Recipient’s Mexican Tax ID (RFC) or if recipient doesn’t have one, then Recipient’s National ID (CURP)
- Recipient’s email address
- Recipient’s phone number
- Detailed item descriptions (vague descriptions will not be accepted)
Failure to provide the required information may lead to delays or potential loss of goods.
To ensure proper clearance and delivery of your shipments, please follow these steps when making your online purchases:
1) You will need to provide RFC or CURP at the time of purchase:
When completing your purchase, you will be asked to enter the recipient's RFC on the checkout page. If the recipient does not have an RFC, then enter the recipient's CURP. Your purchase cannot be completed without one of these numbers.
2) Provide Accurate Contact Information:
Make sure to provide up-to-date contact details, including your phone number and email address, so that carriers can reach you in case of any issues.
*Your personal information can be updated within the following My eBay's page
Please note that in some cases, you may still be required to take additional steps once the shipment enters Mexico. This could include contacting the carrier to clear your shipment.
