How it works

Instant eBay Voucher is a program that lets you sell your used phone in exchange for a voucher in the amount of what your phone is worth + $7.05 for shipping that will be applied directly to your eBay account. Just follow the standard process for creating a listing on eBay. If your phone is eligible, you’ll receive an offer for an Instant eBay Voucher. Once you accept the offer by clicking Get voucher, you’ll see the voucher amount at checkout—ready to use after processing. After accepting the offer, you’ll need to purchase a shipping label and send your phone to the approved eBay buyer/partner (CExchange) within 2 business days. To participate in this program, make sure you have a payment method on file. In the event that your phone is not as described, damaged in shipment, not prepared according to instructions, or not received within 7 days, it will be returned and you may be charged for the full voucher amount.

Phones that are not eligible for this program

  • Phones with glass or screen cracks, major dents, other damage, and/or functional failures
  • Customized, modified software or collector phones that are one-of-a-kind
  • Illegal items, including phones reported as being stolen, items with modified serial numbers, and recalled items
  • Phones that have a carrier contract or installment plan that has not been paid in full. Check with your carrier to confirm your phone is off-contract or that the installment plan has been paid in full.
  • Other phones, as eBay determines in its sole discretion

If your phone is eligible, here’s how to make sure it’s accepted

  • If your device has cellular service, remove the SIM card. Here’s how:
  • Pay off any remaining balance on your account. Not sure if you have a balance? Contact your carrier.
    • AT&T
    • Verizon
    • T-Mobile
    • Sprint
  • Unlink from Find My Phone, Find My Device, and any other phone locating services. Here’s how:
  • If possible, do a data wipe. If you can’t do a data wipe, clear any lock screen passcodes/biometric data.
  • Pack your phone in a USPS Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box and be sure to use appropriate packing material to prevent damage. You don’t need to send in your phone accessories.
  • Place your Order information in the Flat Rate Box with the phone.
  • Print the shipping label and drop it off at the post office within 2 business days so that it’ll be received within 7 days.

Who pays for shipping?

With Instant eBay Voucher, the “Buyer” (CExchange) is paying the shipping cost.

  • Shipping your phone to CExchange is prepaid in the form of a voucher.
  • You are responsible if your phone is damaged or lost during shipment.
  • If CExchange sends back your phone for any reason, you’ll need to pay for return shipping
  • Your phone may be sent back if CExchange determines it is ineligible for the Instant eBay Voucher program

Where can I find the voucher and does it expire?

The voucher will be added to your eBay account immediately upon accepting the Instant eBay Voucher offer by clicking Get voucher. You’ll only see the voucher amount when you check out and can apply it to any purchase you choose, subject to eBay Voucher Terms & Conditions. The voucher does not have an expiration date, so you can use it at any time.

Why was my account charged?

CExchange inspects and tests your phone to make sure it’s the same as what you specified, so that they can give you the original offer amount. In the event that your phone is not as described, damaged in shipment, not prepared according to instructions, or not received within 7 days, it will be returned and you may be charged for the full voucher amount.

Is there a fee?

Yes, you will be charged a 10% Final Value Fee when CExchange purchases your phone. This is the standard rate for cell phone sales on eBay.

What condition should my phone be in?

Eligibility is limited to phones in New Other or Used condition. Your phone must be fully functional without any glass or screen cracks, major dents, or other damage.

What if I lose the shipping label?

You can reprint the shipping label at no charge within 24 hours on My eBay.

  1. Go to My eBay and look under Sell
  2. On the Shipping labels page, look for the item and click Print another label

What happens if my phone is lost or damaged?

As a seller, you’re responsible for phones that are lost, stolen, or damaged during shipment. If your phone is lost or damaged when CExchange receives it, it’ll be returned to you and you may be charged the full voucher amount.

  • To file a claim with USPS, go to their website
  • For more info, see the Instant eBay Voucher Terms and Conditions

What happens if I don’t ship my phone after I accept the offer?

When you accept the Instant eBay Voucher, you’re agreeing to receive a voucher in exchange for your phone. If you do not ship your phone after accepting the CExchange offer, you may be charged for the full voucher amount.
