Auction-Style Listing Format

Most listings on eBay use the Online Auction format. A typical auction-style listing works this way:

  • You list your vehicle and set a starting price.
  • You can choose a listing duration of 3,5, 7 or 10 days.
  • Buyers visit the listing and bid on the vehicle.
  • When the listing ends, the high bidder or bidders buy the vehicle from the seller for the high bid.
Insertion and Final Value Fees or Successful Listing Fee for online auction format listings are based on the starting price and ending price of the item.

Fixed Price Format

When you list an item with the Fixed Price format:
  • Buyers can purchase your vehicle without waiting, at the price you set.
  • You can choose a listing duration of 3, 5, 7 or 21 days.
  • You can also choose to accept Best Offers from buyers.
  • There is no bidding and no auction-style listing -- you're just offering your vehicle for sale at a Buy It Now price.
  • Buyers will find your listing in category browse pages and search results, highlighted with the Buy It Now icon.
  • Insertion and Successful Listing Fees apply.
Note: You must have a feedback rating of 10 or more (or be ID Verified) to list your vehicle in a Fixed Price format.

Best Offer Feature
Offering the Best Offer feature means:
  • The seller lists their vehicle and sets a starting price.
  • Buyers visit the listing and submit what they think is a best offer.
You have many options with this format, including giving buyers an opportunity to buy at a fixed price (Buy It Now), and setting a hidden minimum-selling price (reserve price).

Insertion and Successful Listing Fees for online auction format listings are not percentage based.
