Confirming your email address

Confirming your email address is the last step to register on eBay as a buyer or a business. It makes sure that your email is working properly and completes your registration on eBay.

Having a valid email address is especially important on eBay. For example, email is used to notify you when you've won an item. You'll also use email to find out shipping and payment options from other buyers and sellers.

You may decide how you'd like to be contacted by eBay by going to the " Preferences" under My Account on your My eBay page and changing your Notification Preferences.

Haven't received your registration email yet? Please try the following:

  • Ask eBay to resend your registration email.

  • Check to see if your inbox is full. If it is full, you might need to delete some existing emails in order to receive new ones. After deleting emails, ask eBay to resend your registration email.

  • If you have a bulk mail or junk mail folder, check to see if your email from eBay arrived there instead of your main inbox.

  • AOL/CompuServe users: Make sure your Mail Controls are set to receive emails from the Internet. If you have Internet email blocked, please change your Mail Controls by entering the keyword "Mail Controls." Then ask eBay to resend your registration email.

  • Check with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to see if there are any technical problems and then try to register again.

  • Wait up to 24 hours. Sometimes email does not arrive instantly.

  • Re-register if 24 hours have passed and you still haven't received your registration email.
