FAQs

Most gold, silver, platinum and palladium bars, coins and rounds can be purchased from you through this program. The first step is to determine the precious metal content of your items. Most modern precious metal items have a metal (such as gold, silver, platinum or palladium) and a weight (1oz, 5oz, 1g, 10g, etc.) stamped on the item. Most US coins dated 1964 and older contain precious metals, but do not state a metal and weight on the coin. Many of these items can be purchased through the program. If you have any questions, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help you.

In many cases, older US coins are traded for their gold and silver content. However, in some cases an older US coin could be worth much more than its metal content. Rest assured, that if you have a rare coin, our Buyback Partner will let you know. The following is a list of the most common older US coins that contain a precious metal.

At this point our Buyback Partner is not accepting anything other than bars, coins and rounds. Our buyer is an active market maker in many different precious metals products. We will update this page as the Buyback Program expands into other types of products.

After you submit pictures and a short description of your items, you will receive a response within a few hours to confirm your list of products and quickly followed with an offer for those products. The price will be quoted in US Dollars based on the current metals price plus or minus a premium.

If you choose to accept the offer, our Buyback Partner will return an email confirmation to you within one business hour with the exact price based on the current metals price at that time.

Your price quote expires within 2 business days from the timestamp of the emailed offer. Once you have accepted the offer 1) all prices are locked in, and 2) there is a binding contract between you and the Buyback Partner for your transaction. You can feel confident with the knowledge that your price is locked as you take the next step of shipping your products to the Buyback Partner.

Once you have accepted the offer and our Buyback Partner has issued a confirmation number there is a binding contract between you and the Buyback Partner. It is not the intention of the Buyback Partner to enter into buying transactions, accepting the risks involved only to have them cancelled.  However, we realize rare situations happen where orders need to be cancelled. Should you elect to cancel your order, you must do so during normal business hours 8am-5pm (CT) Monday-Friday. Cancellations must be approved in writing via email. At that time, if any market loss has occurred, our Buyback Partner will calculate that loss and add a $35.00 USD cancellation fee. The Buyback Partner can accept credit card at that time, or will invoice you the full amount to be paid in full within thirty (30) days. No future selling orders may be permitted through the Buyback Program until any market loss is paid in full. Any market gain on cancellations shall remain the property of the Buyback Partner.

The current price of gold, silver, platinum and palladium are listed on our Buyback Program Partner’s eBay storefront page: http://stores.ebay.com/apmex.

Upon confirmation and acceptance of the offer, the Buyback Partner will provide you with a shipping address. In order to match up your items to the offer, a copy of the email confirmation with the confirmation number must be included in the shipment.

We recommend packaging your items securely. Please ensure that the package does not say gold or silver or give any indication of its contents. We also recommend shipping your package via USPS Registered Mail, with appropriate insurance, for your protection.

After you mail your products, please send your tracking number to bullionbuyback@ebay.com by the end of the following business day. This will help us expedite the process.

After the carrier has delivered your package to the Buyback Partner's facility, you will be sent an email informing you that your product has arrived. In most cases, payment will be issued within the next business day.

Once your items have been received and verified, the Buyback Partner will send you a final email with a link to sign in to eBay and confirm your eBay user ID. Once that is confirmed you will receive the funds into the PayPal account associated with your eBay user account.

Your transaction may be cancelled if you do not send us a tracking number by the end of the following business day. Additionally, you will be liable to cover any market loss the Buyback Partner incurred by accepting the binding contract to buy from you (see Can I cancel my order?).

eBay's Buyback Partner does not charge any additional fees. The only fees due for the Bullion Buyback Program are the standard eBay selling fees.
