Enabling international shipping

To get started with do-it-yourself international shipping, follow the steps below to set up international shipping for your items.

  1. As you list, find the International Shipping section within the listing flow.
  2. Identify the international shipping services you would like to offer for specific regions or countries. You can add up to 5 different international shipping options.

If you are enrolled in eBay's Global Shipping Program, you must take additional steps:

  1. Go to Site Preferences in My eBay.
  2. Beside Shipping Preferences, select Show.
  3. Select Edit beside Offer the Global Shipping Program.
  4. Tick the checkbox for Allow me to customize international shipping by country, and then Submit.

If you use Business Policies to list your items:

  1. In the Shipping Details section of your listing, click to edit your shipping policy.
  2. Review the International Shipping section and select the shipping services you'd like to use for specific regions or countries.

  • As a seller, what duties and taxes should I expect to pay when I ship a package overseas?

    Once a package you've shipped arrives in its destination country, local customs officials will assess the duties and taxes due, which are reported to your buyer. The buyer is responsible for paying duties and taxes due.

  • What happens if a buyer doesn't respond to requests to collect duties and taxes? How can I protect myself?

    If the buyer doesn't respond or refuse to pay, the carrier will contact you (the seller), and attempt to collect the duties and taxes assessed by the destination country's customs department. If both you and the buyer are unreachable, the package will be returned to you at your expense and a return charge will appear on your eBay invoice following the month the return was billed. To avoid this charge, you must clearly state in your return policy that if a buyer refuses to pay duties and taxes on an international order, the cost of return shipping with be deducted from the buyer's refund.

  • What should I do to handle duties and tax disputes with a buyer?

    If a buyer opens a case against you, you can present evidence from your carrier that the parcel is awaiting pick up from the buyer and they need to pay duties and taxes. As duties and taxes are levied by customs in the destination country, neither eBay nor the carrier can support a dispute with the buyer and the government.
