Universal Features

The features described in this section have been implemented either at all eBay sites or at most eBay sites.
  1. Edit Item Specifics
The Edit Item Specifics feature allows you to update one or more item specifics for hundreds of items at the same time. The feature uses an interactive grid to list the items you have selected and their pertinent item specifics. The way that the item specific values are listed (check boxes, drop-down menus, text fields) depends on which types of item specifics are applicable to your items. You can use this tool to change the same item specific for all of your items, to change selected item specifics for all of your items, or to change only some of the item specifics for selected items.

Detailed instructions for this feature are provided in the Turbo Lister desktop help. See Turbo Lister Help => Managing and Scheduling Listings => Editing Item Specifics.
Regional Features

The features described in this section have been implemented at selected eBay sites.
  1. Australia, Canada, and Europe - PayPal Immediate Payment
If you have a Premier or Business PayPal account, you can choose to sell your Auction BIN, Fixed Price, or Stores BIN item(s) using the PayPal Immediate Payment option. This means that the buyer must pay for the item before the bidding on the item is considered closed. You can choose whether or not to use this option on an item-by-item basis so that you can, for example, select this option for your perishable goods (e.g., tickets to events, travel packages) while continuing to use more traditional payment methods for your other merchandise.

This option cannot be used for items over a certain price (about $2000 U.S.) With this release, this feature is available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and Switzerland.

To learn more about this feature, replace the XX in this URL with your country code and go to the eBay Website Help: Requiring Immediate Payment at http://pages.ebay.XX/help/sell/immediatepayment.html. Site Note: To use this feature on the eBay site in Germany, sellers must turn off the no credit card preference in the PayPal setting.

  2. Europe - Search By Proximity
The Search by Proximity feature, formerly available only in the U.S., Canada, and Australia, is now available throughout Europe. This feature allows buyers: 1) to search for items within a given distance (for example, 50 miles) or 2) to sort search results or listings pages by the distance from the buyer's own location. (Buyers must provide their location, but they are not required to register.)

When listing an item, sellers enter a location using the appropriate postal code. This information is then indexed in the search database and used to determine the item's location for the View Item function. Each site contains a list of popular cities that the buyer can use to select a center point from which to search.

The Search by Proximity feature replaces the Items Near Me feature.

To learn more about how to use this feature, go to the eBay Website Help: Adding a ZIP Code and Location to Your Listing.

To learn more about how potential buyers search using this feature, go to the eBay Website Help: Searching by ZIP Code at http://pages.ebay.com/help/find/search_region.html.

  3. Australia and Italy - PayPal Integration
eBay is in the process of integrating localized PayPal products into eBay international sites. The purpose is to deliver a payment process that provides: 1) seamless integration with the purchase experience, 2) customization to accommodate local business practices and preferences, and 3) presentation in the user's local language.

This is expected to provide an increased volume for international sellers and general improvement in eBay value for international users. With this release Australia and Italy have been added to the list of sites that have an integrated eBay and PayPal.

  4. Europe and Britain - Free TL Scheduling for SM Pro Users
Beginning with this release, Turbo Lister users in Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom will be offered Turbo Lister scheduling free of charge if they are also subscribers to Selling Manager Pro

  5. India - Shipping Service Must be Selected
Features continue to be added to the eBay India site in preparation for the public launching in spring of 2005. At this site sellers will be required to either ship the product or provide local pick-up. Sellers offering to ship their items must specify at least one domestic shipping service and its cost.

  6. China - Simplified Selling
Features that are not often used by Turbo Lister sellers in China are being removed from the site. This simplifies the listing process by offering fewer, but more popular, choices. Examples of features that are being removed are Slide Show, Picture Pack, Subtitle, and Bold text.

Universal Features
The features described in this section have been implemented either at all eBay sites or at most eBay sites.

1. PayPal Buyers Only This feature allows you, the seller, to require that potential buyers have a linked PayPal account in order to bid on your listings. You can set up this requirement on an item-by-item basis. If a potential buyer does not have a linked PayPal account, the bidding flow will allow him or her to link an existing account or to create a new account.

2. Easy-To-View Pictures
This enhancement provides two features: 1) the new Picture Show feature and 2) an upgrade to the existing Supersize feature. Both features enable buyers to view item pictures at the top of the View Item screen. This makes it easier and faster for buyers who want to compare the features of competing items. Picture Show allows buyers to view your item's pictures as a slide show at the top of the screen. This feature operates by default in a manual browsing mode, but the buyer can also choose to run the feature in autoplay mode. There is a small additional fee to list your item using this Picture Show. If you use eBay Picture Services, you will continue to pay a per-picture fee for additional pictures, unless you subscribe to Picture Pack or to Picture Manager. If you self-host your photographs, you can include additional picture URLs without a per-picture cost. (Picture Show replaces the former Slideshow feature.) Supersize pictures can now be viewed at the top of the View Item screen. The popup window uses familiar iconic button controls. If you have already purchased the Supersize feature, the new popup picture viewer is included in the premium. Detailed instructions for this feature are provided in the Turbo Lister help. See Turbo Lister Help => Creating a New Item Listing => Step 3: Designing Your Listing => Adding Pictures.

3. Insert Multiple Pictures Simultaneously
If you use eBay Picture Services to add photos to your listings, in the past you could insert only one photo at a time via the Insert Picture - eBay Picture Services dialog box. You can now select multiple photos to insert into your listings by holding down the Shift or Control key as you click on the photos that you want to insert.

If you self-host your photos, in the past you could insert only one photo via the Design View or HTML View picture wells. You can now insert multiple self-hosted photos into your listing.

4. Picture Manager
eBay Picture Manager is a picture hosting solution that allows you to upload multiple photographs quickly and easily, to save money on eBay picture fees, and to increase security by watermarking your pictures with your User ID. Because eBay Picture Manager is a subscription service, you can add as many photos as you like at no additional charge.

Beginning with this release, you can now use eBay Picture Manager to add pictures to your Turbo Lister listings. You can also choose not to upload your new pictures to Picture Manager. If you choose this option, you will pay regular eBay Picture Services fees when you upload.

Detailed instructions for this feature are provided in the Turbo Lister help. See Turbo Lister Help => Creating a New Item Listing => Step 3: Designing Your Listing => Managing Pictures.

5. Thumbnails in Edit
When you are in Turbo Lister's Edit Item view, Turbo Lister now automatically displays a thumbnail (40 X 40 pixels) version of the gallery/preview item photo. You can click on the thumbnail to access the Add/Manage Photos feature.

Note: If you are using self-hosted photos, Turbo Lister must connect to the Internet to retrieve your picture. In this case you may want to disable this feature. Instructions are provided in the Turbo Lister help. See Turbo Lister Help => Options and Preferences => Advanced Options.

6. Listing Title Unlocked
In the past the Listing Title field in the Customize Columns - Activity Log dialog box was both mandatory and locked into the first column. With this release Listing Title is still mandatory, but you can move it using Move Up or Move Down buttons.

7. Changing Item Format
The new Change Format feature allows you to change the listing format of one item or multiple items simultaneously. (This feature replaces the Duplicate As function.) If multiple values exist for a given field, this will be indicated by the multiple values text. If you select a new value, it will change all of the existing values to the newly selected value. Note that items must be on the same site (e.g., eBay US, eBay UK), they must have the same format (e.g., Auction, Fixed Price), and they must use the same currency. Also, items with pre-filled item information can only be edited with other items with pre-filled item information.

This feature is discussed in the Turbo Lister help. See Turbo Lister Help => Managing and Scheduling Listings => Changing Item Format.

8. Enhanced Drag-and-Drop
With this release, Windows drag-and-drop functions have been enhanced for Turbo Lister. You can now use drag-and-drop to move items or folders to a different folder. When you use the CTRL key to drag-and-drop folders or listing(s) across folders, those listing(s) are duplicated (copied) to the destination folder.

9. Real Estate Ad
In the past, users who listed real estate through eBay have used the designations Ad Format and Ad Defaults. These terms have been changed to Real Estate Ad and Real Estate Ad Defaults. While there is no change in the function, this new terminology is more descriptive and less likely to cause confusion. There is more information about this feature in the Turbo Lister help. See Turbo Lister Help => Creating a New Listing => Step 4: Adding Format Specifics =>Listing Formats => Real Estate Ad.

10. Email Customer Support
Turbo Lister users now have the option of contacting customer support directly through Turbo Lister. For technical support, you can complete a form within Turbo Lister and submit the question or problem directly to the support team without going through the eBay web site. To access this support, select Contact Customer Support from the Help menu. (The online Webform link continues to be available as well.)

You can read more about this feature in the Turbo Lister help. See Turbo Lister Help => Additional Resources.

Regional Features
The features described in this section have been implemented at selected eBay sites.

(Sellers are not required to show their precise city.)

12. India - Site Launch
With this release eBay is establishing a preparatory site in India in anticipation of a full site launch in Spring of 2005. For the time being access to eBay India is limited; however, the site is expected to offer global product functionality configured and localized for India beginning next year.
