 Plan TA Strategy
One of the most important steps in establishing and growing your TA business is to first plan your TA business strategy. Your strategy should reflect your business goals, as well as guide how you market your services and operate your business. The following links represent key steps in planning your TA business strategy.

  • Determine your TA business strategy
    • Define your goals for your TA business (short term vs. long term)
    • Determine your target market or customer (e.g., neighbors, small businesses, government, estate sales, etc.)
    • Decide what types of product you will sell.  Will you specialize in selling a certain category of product?
    • Determine what services you will offer (e.g., pick-up, drop-off, consignment, etc.)
    • Determine what fees you will charge for your services
    • Identify how you will differentiate your business from others providing similar services

  • Develop a marketing plan
    • Determine which marketing channels you will use to reach your target customers
    • Create a marketing budget
    • Track the performance of your marketing campaigns to understand which programs are most cost-effective and generate the best leads

  • Create branded collateral for your TA business
    • Business cards and brochures
    • Email signature file
    • Rate cards outlining your fees
    • Invoices
    • eBay About Me page
    • eBay Stores
    • Personal website
    • Include your TA contact information on all communications (phone, email, eBay Store URL, etc.)
    • Note:  All marketing materials must comply with Trading Assistant and Trading Post brand guidelines
