What is an eBay Town Hall event?
An eBay Town Hall event is a live online Community forum event that gives eBay members an opportunity to ask questions related to the eBay marketplace and to get answers from eBay's leadership team. In 2007, Bill Cobb, President of eBay North America, continued the tradition of hosting Town Hall events so that he and his staff can learn about the ideas and issues on the minds of our Community members. Check back frequently to this Town Hall page to see what exciting things are planned in 2008.
Town Hall events are open to any registered eBay member. The events generally last one hour and occur approximately once a month. Most Town Hall events are "general" and questions on any eBay-related topic are encouraged. Some Town Hall events focus on specific subjects such as Trust & Safety or Customer Support.
Town Hall events are online audio events, where the audio from the Town Hall discussions is streamed through an audio file that members of the eBay Community can listen to through the Internet.
How do I join the Town Hall?
In order to participate in a Town Hall event, you should return to this page (www.ebay.com/TownHall) on the time and day of the event and click the Town Hall image button. When you click the Town Hall image button, you'll be navigated over to our friends at wsRadio.com, where the audio is streamed through the internet. wsRadio.com also is where you can find Griff's weekly eBay Radio programs. Then, depending on your preference, a Windows Media Player, Real Player, or a mP3 file window will open on your computer so that you can tune in to the event. In order to hear the event, you need to listen to the live streaming audio or check back shortly after the Town Hall ends to listen to the audio archive hosted and provided by our friends at wsRadio.com.
How do I submit a question to be answered in a Town Hall event?
eBay members are encouraged to participate in Town Hall events. If you'd like to ask a question, jump on those phone lines by dialing our toll free number: 877-474-3302. Griff and Bill will welcome you on the air and invite you to ask your question. (Limit one question per call).Alternatively, questions can be submitted by emailing TownHall@ebay.com. The eBay Community Development team will review these questions, collect recurring themes and hot topics receiving a lot of of attention in the Community and present those for Griff to read aloud so Bill and the Town Hall panel can answer. eBay will review every question that is submitted but due to time constraints and resources, not all questions will be asked or answered.
How does eBay determine the questions that are actually asked and answered during at Town Hall event?
For each Town Hall event, we attempt to answer as many questions as possible. We look for recurring themes in the Community and hot topics that have generated lots of conversation among eBay Members.
