What's Hot For Kids!
Summer's Comin'-Get Ready

With the arrival of warmer weather, kids' attention turns to playing outdoors and that's great news for everyone who may be feeling a little cooped up by now.

It feels good to be active and shake off the winter, and eBay has an incredible selection of toys that are great for kids-and the kid in everyone.

After a phenomenal season last year, Miniature Remote Control Cars remain some of the most popular items out there, with many different models to choose from. They vary from fairly simple to relatively complex, and you're sure to find something that's appropriate for the age and sophistication level of the child (or grown-up) who will be playing with them.

If radio control isn't your thing but you're still into vehicles, check out the incredible line that Mattel has created for the Hot Wheels 35th Anniversary. They've gone back to their roots with cars designed for great looks and speed, and these are selling like hotcakes at traditional retailers right now.

If you're ready to get into some really active play, there's nothing like the classics. Frisbees have been around for more than 40 years, and they're still an essential part of summer. Other classic favorite will never go out of style are balls and marbles. And one of the hottest items for kids this spring has been the Water Yo-Yo. They're not much more than a water balloon on a string, but they're classic fun that's hard to put down.

And then there are the classic toys of summer - swings, jungle gyms, sand boxes and those all-important Super Soakers. One of the joys of the season is getting wet, and this year's crop of water guns are some of the most high tech ever.

Something the whole family can get into are kites. Stunt kits have been particular favorites, and learning to make these colorful contraptions float, swirl and swoop is something everyone can get into. Whether you're on the beach or just in the backyard or local park, these are classic summer fun.

For the past 100 years Radio Flyer Wagons have been a classic part of childhood, and they're still favorites today. Noted for their sturdy construction and durability, we know many families where the second or third generation is still using the same wagon…but there are some really cool new designs and pedal cars that will be especially cool to today's kids.

Now, not every day during the spring and summer is going to be sunny. And kids will want some fun things to do on rainy days. This is a great time for classic board game like Clue or Risk. Many parents like to have several games stashed away to bring out when the weather turns bad as a hedge against that age-old complaint: "there's nothing to do!"

If you're planning to go on vacation, you may want to stock up on Travel Games as well. There are many different types available-and they're fun for the whole family.

There's so much more to explore to enrich your kids' summer experiences. We hope you have a great and exciting season-full of good clean (wet, muddy, active, quiet…) fun.

Cool For Collectors
The Hottest Crazes of the Summer

Every collector knows that what one person considers a treasure is what another person is ready to sell on eBay so he or she can buy more treasures. That's just the way collecting works. Who knows why certain things catch on with collectors, it's that whole "eye of the beholder" concept. There is one thing, however, that unifies collectors-interest, even passion, about the things that they're collecting.

Here's what's cool for collectors this year-

Big kids love their toys as much as little kids, and action figures still top the lists of what big boys are collecting this year. Among the hottest items are McFarlane collectibles including Spawn and other lines as well as Star Wars figures and Lord of the Rings. About 40 percent of action figures in the U.S. are sold to adult men, indicating that they're not growing up-or at least not letting go of everything that was cool about being a kid. You can find both new and rare figures on eBay.

Doll collecting remains the leading hobby for grown-up girls, and this year's collectibles are pretty amazing. Barbie has all kinds of beautiful new styles and costumes. And Madame Alexander unveiled a magnificent line at Toy Fair in New York this year, with some of the limited editions (limited to only 750 dolls) likely to be in great demand as the year goes on.

Yu-Gi-Oh! still rules among boys as do Power Rangers. These classics keep proving they have staying power and an appeal to group after group of action-oriented boys. However, there are some "newcomers" on the horizon that boys can't get enough of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back and look like they may be bigger than ever. Also, Masters of the Universe, GI Joe and Transformers are attracting a whole new generation of kids. Oh, and so are Spider-Man and this year's super hero The Hulk. Great new designs and really detailed sculpting has made these more popular than ever. (Many of the older collectors tell us that they love these items, too. Especially when they're adding them to existing collections of figures from the 1970's and before.)

Boys into extreme sports are also collecting the new line of Tony Hawk Action Figures from Art Asylum. They are toys, but they are also some of the coolest collectibles around.

If "retro" is big with boys, it's even bigger with girls. Some of the hottest properties of this year will seem like "déjà vu all over again" to grown-ups. Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony are all back and topping kids lists.

Girls are also building their collections of Bratz dolls and My Scene Barbie, with a new sense of what's hip and cool in fashion dolls for both play and display.

One of the newest properties that's going to be huge this year are the Neopets in a variety of different shapes and sizes. They join Tomy's Micropets in the line-up of collectibles that are affordable and appealing to girls.

With many new collectibles coming out during the summer-and many manufacturers focusing on creating items to appeal to the collector in all of us, we're sure you'll find lots of stuff on eBay that you just "have to have." And that's the fun of collecting.
