Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): Tickets & Experiences Theme Page and UltimateBid

1. Can anyone sell on the Tickets & Experiences Theme Page?

Yes. Any tickets you list on eBay may appear under the appropriate search on the Tickets and Experiences Theme Page. All listings are searched for by keywords (names,tickets) to generate the list of items that come up related to a specific artist or event. Bidders may also use our normal search process to find tickets. At the bottom of the theme page you can bidders can also enter their own search query. We do not have a specific category index page for tickets at this time (Tickets are under "Everything Else").

Seller listings will not appear in search results for the Meet Your Hero and In the Action areas on the right side of the UltimateBid section. These areas will specifically feature UltimateBid's listings for experience packages (not simply tickets).

2. If I'm selling tickets in the Everything Else: Tickets Category, will my listing automatically show up on the Tickets & Experiences Theme Page?

Links on theme pages go to searches and are not categories that you can list in directly. Listing tickets does not guarantee that your listing will appear in the results generated from a search on the Tickets & Experiences Theme Page. Just like all other theme pages, your item will be included only if your listing includes the relevant name of a particular artist, team, venue, or other search criteria.

3. What if I want to list an experience for sale? Where can I list it?

Anyone may list tickets or experiences for sale in any appropriate eBay category (sports, music, tickets, etc). These listings may also show up in the Tickets & Experiences Theme Page results. As this area grows, we will evaluate adding additional categories specific to experiences (separate from tickets) to accommodate the growing listings.

Note that with the exception of items in the "Meet Your Hero" and "In the Action" areas, sellers' items have the same chance to appear on the vast majority of the theme page searches as the items listed by UltimateBid.

4. What determines which artists are highlighted at the top of the theme page?

Artists featured are drawn from popular artists currently touring for which there are sufficient tickets listed on the site. The three pictures at the top of the page are links that go directly to UltimateBid items.

5. Why is UltimateBid on eBay?

UltimateBid features unique, high-profile event experience packages, such as opportunities to appear on stage with an artist, to increase awareness for the entire Tickets Category on eBay. This publicity will help drive new buyers to the Tickets & Experiences Theme Page and to eBay.

6. Won't this compete with and hurt my revenues from my ticket listings?

UltimateBid may sell some prime seat tickets but their main focus is on giving people the chance to attend events that are not usually available to the public (charity events and unique opportunities to meet stars, go backstage or onstage, etc.). UltimateBid has agreements with many of the leading sports teams and largest concert venues which gives them the opportunity to drive millions of entertainment and sports enthusiasts to eBay to buy tickets (thereby helping all ticket sellers!).

7. What qualifies as an "experience?" If I add a poster to a ticket sale, does that make it an "experience package?" Are "experiences" a way to sell tickets to events above face value?

These "experience" listings are more than just fixed-price items. They typically involve special access to privileges like VIP areas, events, parties or spending time with celebrities-experiences that are not available for sale to the public. Ticket packages are exempt from the restriction of selling tickets at face value.

8. Is it a listing violation to sell tickets in conjunction with another item (like a T-shirt) for over the face value of the tickets?

There are no restrictions in most states, and in the states with restrictions on ticket sales, the following revised policy applies to packages:

Ticket packages may be listed on eBay, and are not subject to eBay's ticket policy -- ticket package listings are not limited to the face value of the time, and need not include the eBay required text. To qualify as a "ticket package," the listing must not offer the high bidder an option to purchase the tickets alone, and must include either:

At least one item of substantial value related to the ticket event that the seller has coordinated with the event promoter, team, manager, artist, or venue, such as a backstage pass, a meeting with the performer, or an "experience" such as being a ballboy at a baseball game; OR
A complete travel package around the event, including BOTH air transportation to the event location and commercial lodging for at least one night. Listings that offer tickets without these travel arrangements do not qualify as travel packages under this policy.

For events in states or countries that regulate ticket sales, tickets may not be packaged with other items unless the listing qualifies as a ticket package. For the full ticket policy, please go here.

9. What if I have a bad experience buying tickets on eBay?

eBay does not control the items that are listed on the page. UltimateBid has control only over the items or experiences that they list. The standard eBay insurance rules and escrow recommendations apply in this area as on the rest of the site.

10. What if I buy one of UltimateBid's "experiences" and I don't get everything I was expecting or the event gets rained out, etc.?

In the event of a rain-out, cancellation, or artist, athlete, or celebrity failing to appear, UltimateBid will arrange a similar experience for you on a mutually agreed upon date, or will provide a partial or full refund depending upon the circumstances. UltimateBid is committed to providing you with a positive experience.

11. I still don't understand what eBay is doing with UltimateBid and how it works?
