Creative listing strategies keep buyers coming in

Tara uses some creative listing strategies to increase buyer traffic. "Most of my listings are in Store Inventory format. I run Auctions to get new customers and keep my name out there. But Store Inventory listing format works great for my repeat buyers and those who enter my Store from links out of eBay searches. To increase repeat traffic, sometimes I'll create a 'Treasure Hunt.' I'll email buyers a picture and tell them the picture is of one of the items in my Store. The first person to find it and mention the email gets the item for free. Store Inventory format works great for this because I can revise listings at any time, so I can add the photo to any of those listings whenever I want."

Branded for success

Branding is an important part of the Tara's Treasures strategy. "eBay Stores has so many options, features, and ways to customize that you can never outgrow it. I like that you can design your Store to fit your image. I hired a store designer to help create a recognizable look for my Store and listings. When buyers see one of my listings, they know immediately they're on my site. Everything from the signature on my emails to my Custom Pages and listings uses my color scheme … that brand recognition makes a big impact with buyers over time."

Tara's tips for success
• Organize your Store. "Use all the tools provided to organize your items. This makes it easy for buyers to shop for what they're looking for and browse items they didn't know you had."
• Create appealing layouts with images "People need that visual image to buy-whether on a listing or your Store. You can't just mention different colors, you need to show each one. I've found that if you make your Store visually appealing, people will stay longer and buy more."
• Leverage all the promotional tools available. "Use all the tools available to drive more buyers to your Store, and get them to buy multiple items whenever possible."
• Use your About Me page. "I get lots of hits on my About Me page, and I update it frequently. If I am collaborating with another seller, I can show that and give a link to the auction listing."
• Participate in eBay Groups. "The eBay Community, discussion groups, and private boards can all offer a wealth of sales information, especially if you are selling in a specific field. It also gets your name out there with people who love what you love."
