Selling Graded Cards |
| Selling graded sports cards on eBay can be rewarding. As a seller, it is best to be familiar with the market. Scan through the existing listings and take note of the methods successful sellers use to post graded cards on eBay. This includes the wording in titles and descriptions, use of features (bold, gallery), opening bid price strategies, choosing the right category, the placement and quality of images, and the use of a template or HTML within the item description. |
Selling Non-Graded Cards |
| Successfully selling non-graded cards can be slightly more challenging. Use the same tips above, and remember that the more descriptive your listing is, the better. DO NOT OVERGRADE! (See suggested grading scale in Tips for Buyers). Give a very conservative grade of the card. Good sellers will describe a card as NM (Near Mint) even if it arguably is in Mint condition. If you want to build a healthy reputation, grade your cards as if you were the buyer.

General Selling Tips |
Here are some general guidelines for selling cards on eBay. Following these tips will get you the highest price while minimizing incoming email inquiries about your card:
- Post a clear, resolute scan or picture of the card(s). Make sure the buyer can see the corners, centering, and edges fairly well. Also, if the graded card has a serial number on it, include that as well.
- Accept as many payments as possible. This includes money order, check, and a credit card payment service such as PayPal. It has been shown that PayPal increases the final auction price of an item listed on eBay given the convenience to the buyers.
- Write a detailed description. Even if the card is graded, still include a thorough description of it. For example, the card may be graded and 8, but still describe why it received that grade (e.g. the center is a little off, there is a tough of wear on one corner, etc.)
- Customer service is very important. Treat your customers as if every one of them will come back and buy from you again.
- Consider using eBay listing features (e.g. bold, gallery view, featured, etc.) to enhance the number of potential bidders who see your listing.
