 Shipping High Value Articles
A package is automatically protected against loss or damage up to $100 (U.S.). Additional protection up to $50,000 (U.S.) per package is available upon request for an additional fee. Articles with value greater than $50,000 will not be accepted for transportation. More restrictive value limits apply for packages shipped internationally, via the Internet, or articles of unusual value. For additional limitations, refer to the terms and conditions contained in the UPS Tariff.

 Shipping Hazardous Materials
UPS accepts hazardous materials only from customers with hazardous materials contracts. It is a shipper's responsibility to determine if a package contains a hazardous material. Call the UPS Hazardous Materials Support Center at 800-554-9964 for details.

 Measuring Your Box
Here are a few things you should know about UPS package specifications.

What's the billable weight of your package - actual, dimensional or oversize?
Determine actual weight. You can use any standard scale.
Find dimensional weight - Multiply Length X Width X Height. Go with this number, unless the number is greater than 1,728. If the number is greater than 1,728 then divide it by 194 to determine your dimensional weight.
Compare the actual weight from Step 1 to the dimensional weight from Step 2. The larger of the two is the billable weight and should be used to calculate shipping charges.
Could your package be oversize?
  • Oversize 1
If a package exceeds 84 inches and is equal to or less than 108 inches in length and girth combined and weighs less than 30 pounds, the package will be considered "Oversize 1." Oversized 1 packages will be treated as a 30-pound package when calculating billable weight.

  • Oversize 2
If a package is between 108 and 130 inches in length and girth combined and weighs less than 70 pounds, the package will be considered "Oversize 2." Oversized 2 packages will be treated as a 70-pound package when calculating billable weight.
