Blocked Bidder Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Below are answers to some questions that users often ask about blocked bidders.

Q. What is a blocked bidder list?
A. You can create your own list of eBay users who will be blocked from bidding on all of your listings. Your list can include any bidder who is registered at eBay, including international users. Please use this feature cautiously as it may limit the number of bids on your item.

Q. When can I add or remove a bidder?
A. You can add or remove a bidder from your blocked bidder's list at any time. All changes are effective immediately.

Q. How can I add or remove blocked bidders from my list?
A.
  • Add your unwanted bidders in the blocked bidder box. Place a comma between each User ID or just press the Enter key on your keyboard to display each name on a separate line.
For example: you can type the User IDs separated with a comma:
User ID 1, User ID 2, User ID 3,
or, you can type the User IDs separated by a new line:
    User ID 1
    User ID 2
    User ID 3
You can also separate each User ID with semicolon or the space key.
  • To remove a bidder, just highlight the User ID and click the Delete key on your keyboard.
  • After you are done adding or removing User IDs, click the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the page.
  • You may contact the bidder after you remove the User ID from your list so he/she can bid on your item.
  • If an eBay user bids on your listing before you add them to the blocked bidder list, you will need to manually cancel the bid.
  • If you only know the email address of the bidder you must first look up their UserID.

Q. How long can I keep my list?
A. We will maintain your list as long as you are a registered member on eBay.

Q. Do I have to specify an item number?
A. No. Bidders on the blocked bidder list will not be able to bid on any of your items.

Q. How many User IDs can I have on the blocked bidder list?
A. You may keep up to 1,000 User IDs on your list.

Q. Is there any charge to use this feature?
A. No, it is free.

Q. How can I decide whom I want to block?
A. It will be based on your own experience with buyers. We always encourage you to work things out with your trading partners. However, we understand unfavorable things might happen, so you may find this tool useful to protect your own interests.

Q. What's going to happen if the block list is not accessible due to system problems?
A. In case of system problems, we would allow all bidders to bid on your items. You may need to manually cancel unwanted bids. System problems will be posted on our Announcement Board.
