FAQs

How does the valet selling service work?

The valet selling service is a new and simple way to sell your stuff on eBay. Valets sell your items on your behalf, and you receive 70% of the proceeds of the sales for items that sell.

There are 2 ways to sell:

  • Mail in your things—shipping is prepaid:
    • Request a free postage-paid shipping label, and it’s emailed to you. Print it out and use it with any box.

    • or
    • Request a free 12" x 12" x 12" box and a postage-paid shipping label. It’s sent straight to your house.
  • Drop off your things: In select locations, you can bring your items to an eBay drop-off center. Find a drop-off center near you.
How big is the box used in the mail-in program?
The box is similar in size to six cereal boxes stacked together. The dimensions are 12”x12”x12”. If your items don’t fit in this box, please feel free to use the shipping label that comes with the box on any other box of your choice. The shipping label will be valid for any box, as long as the total weight is less than 25 lbs.
How do valets determine how to price items?
Valets research listings for items like yours on eBay. They look at items that have sold within the last 90 days. Based on this research, valets determine how to best list your items, including how to price them. Items are given multiple chances to sell on eBay for up to 2 weeks. When items are relisted, Valets reduce the price to increase the chances of selling.
Can I track the sale of my items?
Yes. If your items are listed on eBay, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to view your item listings.
What if I want to make a change to how one of my items is listed?
Valets can’t make changes to listings after they’re active on eBay. If you’d like, you can call and cancel a listing and request that your item be returned to you.
When do I get paid?
You’re paid for items that sell about 3-4 weeks from the time the valets receive your items.

Here’s a quick timeline:
  • After you mail in or drop off your items, valets receive them in about 5 business days.
  • Your items are listed on eBay within 2 business days.
  • Your items are for sale for up to 2-3 weeks.
  • After all your items have sold or been for sale for 2 weeks, you’re paid within 4 business days.
  • Unsold items are returned to you within 4 business days, if you’ve requested their return.
While valets make every effort to meet these timeframes, situations like extreme weather or unexpected volume may cause delays. If you have questions, contact eBay Customer Support (1-855-USE-EBAY).
Is a selling fee or percentage of the sale proceeds deducted from my total sales earnings?
Yes, there will be a 30% fee deducted from the total sales value of your items.
Are shipping costs deducted from the sale proceeds?
You don't have to worry about shipping. Shipping costs will be charged to the ultimate buyer of your items and are not your responsibility.
Are there any limitations to sending items in?
Boxes are similar in size to 6 cereal boxes stacked together—they’re 12”x 12” x 12.” If your items don’t fit in the box, you can use the shipping label with another box.

Shipping labels (whether emailed to you or included with a box) work with boxes that weigh less than 25 pounds (filled and sealed.)

There is no limit to the number of items you can send in, but most orders are around 15 items.
What condition should my items be?
