Relisting Suggestions

See how you can alter your listing so it's
more appealing to potential buyers.

  • Enhance your listing title

Make sure your item is coming up in search queries by including the right keywords in your listing title. Be as specific as possible by mentioning the brand, style or model, size, color, condition and other important details.

  • Get more detailed with your description

It's possible that your description didn't offer enough information for buyers to truly understand exactly what you're selling, or was confusing. Make sure your description is clear by using bulleted lists and a single font. Also make sure you call out all the key details of your item like dimensions or size, original retail value, current condition, flaws, etc.

For commonly listed items, you can also use the eBay catalog to auto-populate product details.

  • Include more photos to show off your item

Take full advantage of the 12 FREE photos* you get per listing to help buyers know exactly what they'd be buying. Take close-up shots as well as shots from various angles to highlight details, special features, authenticity, and any flaws you need to disclose.

    *Excluding eBay Motors Vehicle listings.

  • Consider lowering your price

It's possible that you set your price too high—do a search for similar items (both active and completed listings) to get an accurate assessment of how much other sellers are asking.

  • Add "Buy It Now" to your Auction-style listing

Including a Buy It Now price* will help close a sale faster for buyers who don't want to wait for an auction to end or who want to ensure that they don't lose the item you're listing to another buyer.

*A Buy It Now price must be at least 10% higher than the auction start price.

  • Add "Best Offer" to your Fixed-price listing

Adding a Best Offer option allows you to maintain control of your listing while offering buyers the opportunity to negotiate a final sale price. You can accept, reject, or make a counter offer so that the final sale price is still one you're comfortable with.

  • Set a more competitive shipping cost

Shipping costs are a major sticking point for buyers. Here are a few things you can try to make yours more competitive:

    • Offer free shipping: This gets buyers' attention AND gets you extra visibility in search. You can absorb the cost by rolling it into your item's asking price.
    • Offer calculated shipping: this lets buyers see the cost of shipping specific to their zip code.
    • Get FREE USPS Flat Rate boxes delivered to your door when you order them through eBay.
  • List with "eBay Classifieds" for special shipping situations

eBay Classifieds is a free way to sell locally and is a great way to sell items that have shipping costs over $100, are available for local pickup only, or are being shipped by freight. Simply copy and paste your unsold listing into eBay Classifieds and you're ready to go.
