Additional information about Item Condition
An item is considered "New" when it meets the following guidelines:
  • It is in the original condition from the manufacturer, distributor, or retailer.
  • It has not been refurbished or used for any purpose.
  • It has no known defects or damages.
Handmade or custom-made items that have never been used for any purpose may also be considered "new".

Note: Item condition is not an indication of the item's age. If age is known, please specify the creation and/or release date of the item (for example: Fall 2005) in the item description.

As a seller, you can use the listing description area of your listing to help buyers learn more about the condition, age, and history of your item. Provide buyers with answers to these questions if applicable:
  • Is the item in its original packaging or has the packaging ever been opened?
  • Are all manuals, accessories, and additional documents shipped with the item?
  • Does the item have a valid warranty that can be passed on to the buyer?
  • Does the item have an expiration date (for example, in the gourmet or beauty & health categories)?
  • Does the item have store tags attached (for example, in the clothing & accessories category)?
  • Does the item come with any certificates (for example, in watches or jewelry categories)?

Treatment of categories without Item Condition in eBay Express
There are categories where traditional item condition values like New, Used or Refurbished are not applicable, such as for items like magazine subscriptions and Vintage Fishing Reels. In these categories, we will not be introducing Item Condition values prior to the launch of eBay Express. However, (start underline)a portion of the categories that do not have item condition will be included in eBay Express at launch (end underline) because the condition of the product is easily understood by looking at item titles. The rest of the categories that do not have item condition will not be included in eBay Express at launch. For a complete list of categories that do not have item condition that will and will not be included in eBay Express at Launch, please click here.
