 Get Ready to Sell
eBay Giving Works sellers must meet at least one of the following criteria:

(1) Earned a feedback rating of 10 or more
(2) Have been ID verified
(3) Received pre-approval from a nonprofit registered with MissionFish

If you are new to eBay and have not received pre-approval from a participating nonprofit, first register on eBay, then verify your identification.

Step 1: Register
To participate in the eBay Giving Works program, you will need to register on both eBay and MissionFish.

TIP:
Choose an effective User ID that you like and can remember, but is also difficult for other people to figure out. Read eBay's tips on choosing a User ID.

Step 2: Create Seller Account

A seller account is required of all eBay sellers. You will select what method(s) of payment you will accept and your preferred mechanism to pay eBay seller fees.

To create a seller account on eBay, simply click on the Sell button at the top of any eBay page and then select "create a seller account."

TIP: Creating a seller's account is free and your information will be kept private on eBay's secure servers. For the fastest, easiest, most secure method of receiving online payments, we recommend using PayPal.

Selecting a source of payment for seller fees and donations
To facilitate the payment of fees and the donation collection, you will need to place a credit card on file with MissionFish, as well as credit, debit card, and bank account on file with eBay.

  • eBay collects seller fees in two different payment cycles (the 15th and 30th of the month). When you register on eBay you will automatically be assigned a payment cycle. Typically, fees are collected in the month following your transaction. Review the payment and billing cycle.
  • After the auction closes, you are invited to make your contribution through the MissionFish payment interface. If you have not made your contribution by the second Monday following the successful close of your listing, MissionFish will charge your credit card for the designated amount.

TIP: As a rule of thumb, eBay selling fees typically range from 3%-7% of the item value. Learn more about eBay selling fees.
