1. Who is impacted by the Store Inventory fee changes?
eBay Stores sellers who only use the Auction-style, Auction-style with Buy It Now, and Fixed Price listing formats will not be impacted by these changes. The Store Inventory fee changes will impact eBay Stores sellers who use the Store Inventory listing format, which is an additional listing format that is only available to eBay Stores subscribers.

  • Click on the "Selling" link (note: Selling Manager and Selling Manage Pro users will have an "Active" link)
  • Under the "Items I'm Selling" section, click on the "Format" pull-down menu in the upper right corner of the section (note: Selling Manager and Selling Manage Pro users will see this in the "Active Listings" section)

4. When will the new Store Inventory Insertion Fees and Final Value Fees become effective for eBay.ca?
All new fees will become effective as of 23:59:59 ET (Eastern Time) on Monday, August 21, 2006. Listings that begin on or after 23:59:59 ET on Monday, August 21, 2006, will be charged the new fees, regardless of when they were created (such as through a listing tool or via the Sell Your Item form using the listing scheduler feature).

5. What are the price changes for eBay sites in other countries?
If you sell on other eBay sites, we recommend you visit the Announcement Board for each site you sell on to learn about any fee changes for that particular site.

6. Why is eBay changing fees?
From time to time, it’s necessary for us to adjust fees in order to manage the overall health of the eBay marketplace. In the case of this increase – which affects Store Inventory listings only – the changes are part of a broader initiative to reset the overall balance of the marketplace. We’re doing more to distinguish the roles of Core listing formats and our Store Inventory format to ensure that buyers’ expectations continue to be met and that conversion rates for sellers stay strong.

7. Why is the fee change occurring in the summer and not during the typical January/February timeframe?
We understand that any changes we make to fees directly impact our sellers, and we do not take this responsibility lightly. Historically, we’ve made most necessary changes in January/February as a way to help our selling community anticipate and prepare for them. As with any business, however, sometimes market conditions require more immediate response. In this case, we felt strongly that taking these actions now to reset the balance of the marketplace is the right thing to do. Among other benefits, these changes will help maximize sales on eBay for the upcoming holiday season.

8. How are Insertion Fees changing?
There will be no changes to Insertion Fees for Core listing formats, including Auction-style, Auction-style with Buy It Now and Fixed Price on eBay.com. For Store Inventory listings, we are introducing two Insertion Fee tiers that will be based on a listing's starting price. The first tier will charge a $0.05 Insertion Fee for a 30-day listing duration for items that start between $0.01 and $24.99. The second tier will charge a $0.10 Insertion Fee for a 30-day listing duration for items that start at $25.00 and higher. Currently, all Store Inventory listings are charged a $0.02 insertion fee for a 30-day listing duration.

For eBay.ca. there are a number of Canadian dollar listing fee adjustments as well as some US dollar fee alignments that may affect you. To learn more about these changes please click here.

9. How are Final Value Fees changing?
There will be no changes to Final Value fees for Core listing formats, including Auction-style, Auction-style with Buy It Now and Fixed Price on eBay.com. For Store Inventory listings, we will introduce a fourth Final Value Fee tier. The four tiers will now include $0.01-25.00, $25.01-100.00, $100.01-1,000.00 and $1,000.01-higher. The Final Value Fees will increase for the first two tiers – the Final Value Fee for the $0.01-25.00 tier will increase from 8% to 10% of the closing value, and the Final Value Fee for the $25.01-100.00 tier will increase from 5% to 7% of the closing value.

For eBay.ca. there are a number of Canadian dollar listing fee adjustments as well as some US dollar fee alignments that may affect you. To learn more about these changes please click here.

10. If I submit listings via a selling tool, such as TurboLister, before August 22, 2006, but don't confirm the listings until after August 22, 2006 which price will I be charged?
All items that begin on or after 23:59:59 PT (or 23:59:59 ET for eBay.ca) on Monday, August 21, 2006 will be charged according to the new pricing structure. In this example, listings confirmed after 23:59:59 PT (or 23:59:59 ET for eBay.ca) on Monday, August 21, 2006 will be charged the new fees, regardless of when they were created.

11. How can we learn more about these changes from eBay staff?
There will be several ways for you to voice any suggestions or ask questions about the price change:
  1. Contact your Customer Support representative – Stores sellers receive free phone support, and we encourage you to contact support to learn more about how these changes may impact your business.
  2. Attend our Town Hall and listen to Bill Cobb, President of eBay North America, discuss these changes and answer member questions – Thursday, 7/20 at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time. https://pages.ebay.com/townhall/
12. What resources are available to me to understand how this change impacts me?
We've compiled a guide on the seller resources page to help sellers who use the Store Inventory listing format understand how this fee change impacts their business and evaluate options for adjusting their listing strategy. In addition – to help eBay Stores sellers make informed decisions about any changes to their selling strategy – we are making eBay Marketplace Research available to Stores sellers at no cost for two months, starting today. Through September 19, eBay Stores sellers can use this data to compare selling formats or determine how best to price inventory on eBay.

13. What is the value of my eBay Stores subscription now that Store Inventory fees are increasing?
Gaining access to Store Inventory is just one benefit of being an eBay Stores subscriber. There are many other valuable features, tools, and customer support resources that are only available to Stores sellers. A subset of these features is outlined below:
14. Is eBay prioritizing Auction-style sellers over eBay Stores sellers?
We are committed to all members on the eBay marketplace. Most eBay Stores sellers also represent Auction-style sellers because they list in a variety of listing formats, such as Auction-style, Fixed Price and Store Inventory. Because there are unique characteristics associated with each listing format (e.g. visibility, fee structure, duration, etc.), eBay recommends that sellers utilize a blend of listing formats to maximize exposure and profitability.

15. What does it mean that eBay is raising the 10-item multiple listings limit to 15 items effective August 22?
The current 10-item multiple listings limit states that sellers may not concurrently have more than 10 listings for identical items, even if those identical items are listed in more than one category or through multiple User IDs. We will be increasing the listing limit on this policy to 15 identical items as of August 22. This change will be effective for eBay.com and eBay.ca.
