Listings Checklist
Updated January 8, 2009
Make sure your listings are clear to buyers, priced competitively, and compliant with new policies. We recommend addressing the policy issues early to avoid disruptions to your sales. Whenever possible, consider making your revisions (including changes to your item descriptions) all at once, saving you time later.
Now!
Books, Music, Movies & DVDs, and Video Games: Remove any references to shipping charges above the maximum shipping costs from your listing descriptions. Listings in violation are subject to immediate removal.
If you sell and ship internationally, be sure to add the approved customs disclaimer language to your listing description. Under the updated Feedback Removal policy, you can now have negative or neutral Feedback resulting from customs issues removed if your listing includes the approved language and formatting.
By January 5 for UPS; By January 18 for USPS
Make sure your shipping charges are updated to reflect the new carrier rates for UPS and USPS. eBay will update the shipping calculator at midnight on the day the changes take effect. The new small Priority Mail flat rate box coming from USPS for the same rate as the Priority Mail flat rate envelope will be available in listing flows by late January.
By January 15:
Remove any references to checks or money orders in your listing descriptions. Listings in violation of eBay's accepted payments policy will be subject to removal starting January 15.
By mid-March:
Make sure you specify return policy and handling time in all listings. (These fields were previously optional). See FAQs for more details.
Tips:
- This is a great time to add Item Specifics to your listings, making it easier and faster for buyers to find your items.
