Fees

Why are you making these pricing changes?
eBay is working to further reduce a sellers' upfront listing cost and move to more success-based pricing. Lower Insertion Fees are balanced with adjusted Final Value Fees that are charged only when a listing ends successfully.

When will the new fees become effective?
All new fees become effective from 00:00 (midnight PDT) on September 16, 2008. Listings submitted at midnight or later on September 16, 2008, will be charged the new fees, regardless of when they were created (e.g., through a listing tool or through the Sell Your Item form using the listing scheduler feature).

If I submit listings via a selling tool (e.g., Turbo Lister) before September 16, 2008, but don't confirm the listings until after September 16, 2008, which price will I be charged?
All items that begin at midnight (PDT) or later on September 16, 2008, will be charged according to the new pricing structure. In this example, listings confirmed after September 16, 2008, will be charged the new fees, regardless of when they were submitted.

If I list an item before midnight on September 16, 2008, will I be charged the new prices?
If the listing is confirmed before 00:00 (midnight PDT) on September 16, 2008, the old fee will apply. (PLEASE NOTE: It may take a few minutes to confirm an item listing. Therefore, an item may be submitted before midnight but not confirmed until after 00:00 September 16, 2008. This would result in the item listing being charged the new fee.

What categories are included in these changes?
All regular categories on eBay.com, eBay.ca and eBayMotors.com (Parts & Accessories only) are included, except those mentioned under the exclusions. (See recent fee changes for eBay Motors Vehicles)

What categories are excluded from these changes?
  • Insertion Fee and Final Value Fee Changes

Pro Pack for Fixed Price listings will be $24.95 for up to 10 days and $74.95 for 30 days and GTC listings.

Listing durations and automatic renewal option

How do I take advantage of the new automatic renewal option?
To have your Fixed Price listing renew automatically, choose the GTC listing duration in the Sell Your Item form or other listing tool.

What is a GTC listing duration?
GTC stands for Good Till Canceled. A listing with GTC duration will renew every 30 days until the item sells successfully. Insertion Fees and all Feature Fees will be charged every 30 days at the time the listing is renewed.

Can all sellers list in Fixed Price with 30-day and GTC durations?
All sellers who meet the requirements to list in Fixed Price can list with 30-day and GTC durations. Listing durations of 3, 5, 7 and 10 days will continue to be available for Fixed Price. As a reminder, only sellers subscribed to an eBay Store will be able to list in Store Inventory Format, with GTC and 30-day durations also available.

Is there additional cost to list in Fixed Price 30-day and GTC listing durations?
There will be no additional cost to list in Fixed Price 30-day or GTC listing durations. Both of these durations are available as part of the 35¢ insertion fee.

Features

What are the changes to Fixed Price listings?
When you list in Fixed Price, you can now list with longer listing durations of 30 days and Good 'Til Canceled. Plus, when you list multiple quantity listings, you will not be charged an incremental Insertion Fee for each additional quantity added to your listing. With Fixed Price, you can list multiple quantities of an item in one listing. The more purchases made from your listing with multiple quantities, the higher it may appear in search results.

If I want to remove features from a GTC listing, do I need to relist?
No. Now you can remove Featured Plus, Gallery Plus, Value Pack and Pro Pack from basic Fixed Price and Store Inventory Format listings with a GTC listing duration at any time during the active lifetime of the listing. You do not need to cancel the listing. You will not be prorated if additional time was left on the feature.

Auction-style listings and Store Inventory Format

Are fees changing for auction-style listings?
No. Auction-style fees are not changing.

What do these changes mean for Auction-style listings on eBay?
When you list Auction-style the way it works best—with a low starting price to encourage bidding—this format still represents the lowest cost way to sell on eBay. We're not making any changes to the auction-style format and eBay remains fully committed to supporting this valued and unique aspect of the eBay marketplace.

Are there any changes to Store Inventory listings?
There will be no pricing changes to the Store Inventory Format at this time. However, if you are a Stores seller, you may want to take advantage of the new low 35¢ Fixed Price Insertion Fee with longer durations. This is a great opportunity to list some of your best Stores inventory in Fixed Price on eBay. The additional exposure will cost only about a penny a day if you list with 30-day duration—and help drive traffic to your store.

Are there new requirements to opening an eBay Store subscription?
We've added one new requirement to opening an eBay store—sellers now must be PayPal Verified. Other seller requirements: Feedback Score of at least 20; ID Verification, a PayPal account in good standing.

Will eBay continue to support Stores?
eBay Stores is one of the most powerful and compelling e-commerce solutions available. eBay Stores will continue to be a vital tool, helping sellers market themselves, establish a brand on eBay, and sell and track more efficiently. Store Inventory format continues to be an important option with the same great pricing, and eBay is committed to continued investment in and support for Stores sellers.

What do these changes mean for smaller sellers who sell fewer items in many categories or the unique items you can only find on eBay? Will these sellers benefit from the changes?
The new 35¢ Fixed Price Insertion Fee can work to the advantage of sellers of any size, including small sellers and Auction-style sellers. For details and tips on how to make both these formats work to your advantage, see Best Practices.

For more insight into how these changes will impact fees, see Fee Examples. You're also invited to participate in-or view the archives of-one of several webinars August 20-26.
