To help users find items more quickly and easily in both our Toys, Hobbies and Crafts areas, we're proposing changes to the organization of our category structure. This proposal incorporates changes suggested by you, the eBay community. We invite you to review the proposed changes and look forward to hearing your feedback so that we can make further improvements. Please send comments to us at toysbbs@ebay.com. All input received by August 6 will be considered before final decisions are made.
Here is a brief summary of the proposed changes:
eBay Home Page
The links would be changed to:
Crafts
Toys & Hobbies
Hobbies & Crafts Page
Replacing the current Hobbies & Crafts page would be expanded and separate pages for Crafting, Art Supplies and for Hobbies. Both would be accessible from the Toys & Hobbies portal page.
Toys & Hobbies Page
The header title/graphic would be refreshed and called Toys & Hobbies to match the existing category structure.
Category Structure Changes
To bring more visibility to the giant communities in Hobbies & Crafts, the header subcategory of Hobbies & Crafts would no longer exist in order to move certain subcategories into a more prominent second level category and appear on the Toys & Hobbies page in the following manner:
Move to Level 2:
Crafting, Art Supplies (includes Arts & Crafts and Needlecrafts)
Model RR, Trains
Models (includes Models and More Hobbies:Rocketry)
Radio Control
Slot Cars
Other moves:
More Hobbies subcategory would no longer exist and:
Magic from Collectibles would be combined with Magician Supplies from More Hobbies and moved under Toys & Hobbies: Classic Toys.
Science Playsets would be moved and renamed to Educational Toys: Science: Chemistry, Microscopes.
More Hobbies: Other would be combined into Arts & Crafts: Other Arts & Crafts.
Also, to give more visibility to certain categories:
Baby Toys would become a second level category in Toys & Hobbies (move from under Educational Toys, rename from Baby, Developmental)
Additional categories would be added or moved up a level in Toys & Hobbies where demand dictates.
