Just-for-Fun Cameras: If you just want to e-mail photos to family and friends, you can go for a compact camera with less than 1 megapixel. For the Inspector Gadget fan, try Multi-Purpose digital cameras and for the Fashion-Savvy, try lightweight SiPix Blink.
Amateurs: For Soccer Moms and Travelers who use point & shoot 35mm cameras, there are lots of affordable 2.0 (and less) and 2.1 to 3.0 megapixel digital cameras that offer point-and-shoot operation, a built-in flash, at least 2x zoom (the higher the magnification, the "x", the great the zoom range) and easy camera-to-computer image transfer. With 2 or 3 megapixles, you'll be able to make high-quality 5x7-inch prints.
Amateur digital cameras include the Fuji FinePix A-101, Canon PowerShot A100, Kodak EasyShare DX3500 and the Olympus D380.
Enthusiast/Advanced: For the technical-minded picture-taker who wants control over the pictures they take and also wants to make great inkjet prints (up to 11x14 inches), there are dozens of more advanced 3.1 to 4.0 and 4.1 to 5.0 digital cameras from which to choose. These cameras feature several creative options for exposure and color control and built-in 2x to 4x zoom lenses.
Depending on your brand preference, try the Canon PowerShot G2, Kodak DC4900, Olympus C3020, and Sony CyberShot DSC-P9.
Semi-Pro: Many Serious Photographers would like to be professional photographers - and may someday turn pro! For these digital shutterbugs, there are cameras designed for creative picture taking in virtually all types of lighting conditions. These 5.0 and higher mexapixel digital cameras offer several exposure modes, white balance control, multiple ISO settings. And, you can make prints up to 11x14 inches. Digital SLR models, close relatives of the film SLR camera, are also available.
For your Semi-Pro try: Canon EOS D60, Olympus Camedia E-20, and Nikon D100.
Professionals: Professional digital SLR cameras have 4 to 6 megapixels, offer total creative control, take the highest quality pictures, and accept dozens of SLR lenses and flash units. How about making a super-sharp 30x40-inch print!
Try: Canon EOS 1D, Nikon D1 and Kodak DCS760.
Stocking stuffers and small gifts: Accessories! If you want to add "a little something" to your digital camera gift, how about one or two of these useful and items: memory cards, accessory flash unit, memory card reader, memory card adapter, USB cables, imaging software, inkjet paper, blank CDs for storing pictures, inkjet cartridges, camera cleaning kit and filters.
Digital Camcorders: From holiday fun, the New Year celebration, winter skiing and summer BBQs, make sure you capture the memories with a new Sony, Canon, JVC or other brand of digital camcorder.
