Heavy Metal: Think Metallic Fabrics, not AC/DC
Go for the gold…. With the Olympics and Oscars just behind us, let your style win all the awards…. Prada used gold and silver furniture-like brocades on shoes, pants and pleated skirts, then mixed them with pajama paisleys and prints to give daytime looks a little evening sparkle.
For fashion irreverence, try rock 'n' roll's favorite fabric: leather-but what's new is the hue…platinum, bronze, pewter, copper and gold. Marc Jacobs on his own and at Louis Vuitton brought uptown shine to downtown looks in shirt-styled jackets and skirts.
If you're looking to shine more than sparkle, try Alberta Ferretti's luxurious satins in golden jackets and softer bronze and copper summer dresses. These tones are great elixirs and mixers with rough linens, denim or khaki. For day and light: leather. Or, suede for night is suddenly so right.
If beading isn't too bedazzling, check out Badgley & Mischka and Carolina Herrera's platinum pieces. Minimal beading is the way to go for day or night on tanks, pants, gowns or even purses. Love those Fendi, Jasmin Peuch, Judith Leiber and Escada bags. Or, go for a vintage beaded bag.

Denim-the fiber dreams are made of…
This year the Europeans have put a new spin on an American classic: denim and suits are in the mix. Dolce & Gabbana did a three-piece suit to make dressing down dressing up….
The greatest asset to this look is that it can be worn together or mixed with other fabrics as separates. Three pieces give an infinite amount of looks…. BCBG featured miniskirt power suits, and at Versus, ruffled denim evening combos took Donatella's denim to the next level.
Antonio Berardi was not stressing out, only distressing his denim looks-worn out and worn in. Mixed over soft, pink flowy skirts were cropped denim jackets. The other way around, there were burnt-out denim patterned pants under ruffled, sexy tops.
At the fair or just out for fun, people are taking denim more seriously lately. Sonia Rykiel did double-breasted jean trenches and sac bags. Other designers used classic denim techniques such as stitching raw edges, embroidery, stone washing, bleaching and patchwork to catapult denim to front and center on the catwalks.

Get in the Swim of Things
La Perla takes the plunge à la J.Lo style with a sleek black one-piece…or with a deep V down to there…try it if you dare. Calvin Klein(another designer) and Donna Karan do.
Gucci did ultrasheer, ultrasexy deep tops with long sleeves over bikini bottoms for maximum UVA coverage and maximum sex appeal-all adding up to a scintillating summer. Check out Fendi and Victoria's Secret's Calvin Klein's as well.
Bathing suits are not just for another day at the beach for summertime fun. Try using your suit around town. Mix 'em up!!! Use bikini tops like Ralph Lauren's. They're great with pants, skirts and cardigans or as a lace cover-up for night. Look sleek and chic a la beaded lace cover-ups and tunics. (Add some turquoise: it's the stone that rocks in belts, bags and shoes.)
From the '60s haute Haight-Ashbury to the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana-for 2002 crochet is back in the race as a feminine fashion favorite. Michael Kors reapplies a retro feel to the sexy but demure tankini silhouette and if you're on the go instead of lounging by the pool, kick the old rules of bathing suits are only for sun to the curb and have some fun…take these funky knits and integrate them with skirts, pants or shorts (summer favorites you'll just love are in linen and cotton). You'll always enter a room fresh-and as welcome as a summer breeze.
P.S. Sexy leather belts or chain belts can flip the script and pump up the volume of your look.

A Fashion Smorgasbord
Eccentric mixes, eclectic combinations, skewed classics and offbeat elegance are the catch phrases for fashion this spring/summer. As we've all learned, you can always expect the unexpected in life, so why not with fashion as well? Designers and stylists are globetrotting and bringing the high points of their voyages back to you, but redefined. Prada and Chloe brought boudoir looks to the boardroom. Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford for Gucci and YSL have turned safari suiting into suburban chic. Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, and Dior take a twist on Tibetan timelessness while Catherine Malandrino, Anna Sui, BCBG and Miu Miu whip up the wildness of the west with urban prairie girls. We are seeing fashion with a different eye-tunics over jeans at Gaultier and Dior…caftans at YSL. We are remixing our fashion attitudes and we have recontextualized the way our mothers and their mothers taught us to dress…. We always say what's old is new but now what's new is how we put it together….
Here at eBay, your new fashion haven, we've created a way for everyone to get the best of fashion and style-but at the best prices. Many of our eBay sellers (I prefer to think of them as stores or boutiques) travel the world and shop, shop, shop, just as all the major department stores-like Barney's, Bloomie's or Neiman Marcus-would do for you. But the best of the best are the prices. It's the greatest revolution since "black is back." Nowadays, with such great attention being paid to detail and the intricacy of design, prices of great fashion finds in traditional boutiques and even in the world's best flea markets have soared. Our fashion finds here at eBay are the best you'll see globally.
It's a small world, after all…and now we're bringing it to you and making it affordable. Dress up the pieces you love and have worn a million times by remixing them with belts to add an African or wanton western feel to an outfit you've already been around the block in a few times before. Escape with an exotic Middle Eastern locket. Or just by changing into a sexy flat sandal: embroidered, leather, tie-up or thong. It's your call. What country should we shop from today? After all, this is a fashion smorgasbord. Bon appétit!!!
